whats the recomended tension by yonex ?? and what string and what tension do you recomend for my 3U Armortec 700???
wahay another glaswegian btw david suggested that i use 23-24 lbs for at 500 for good power - dunno if this applies to at 700 though
Ironic name for a Glaswegian given that our 2 days of sun have gone for this year Or perhaps it refers to the national press
Who? Do you mean David14700 from the Armotec 500 vs. MP-99 thread? As for string tensions, Yonex recommend 20-23 mains, 22-25 cross for the 3u AT700; however, you really have to experiment to find what suits you the most. It's practically pointless asking what other people use, as a cursory glance through BF will show you that assessments of equipment are not uniform, but based on personal preference.
Based on yonex's website they recommended BG65ti as a string for AT700. however the tension is still the users choice.
Finally get mine strung by Tad. center 10 @ 26 lbs and rest 24 lbs; center 10 @ 28 lbs and rest 26 lbs.
In the UK the racket comes pre-fitted with BG68Ti strung at aprox 21-23lbs. It seams weird that they would suggest a lesser string and sell it fitted with BG68Ti and not the recomended BG65Ti
When I got my AT700 in June, it came strung with BG-65TI; I had to specifically request BG68. And now I know that I don't like BG68TI, 65TI and the AT700.
It is BG-68 Ti. Darn, I couldn't wait to get my stringing machine! I swear I could have done a better string job. For the cross, Gary starts from the top to the bottom.
Do you mean different parts of the string bed are at different tensions? How does this affect the sweet spot?
It should make the sweet spot bigger. Read this: http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8079&highlight=proportional I'm trying it out next time I get my racket strung @ >25 lbs. Cya doon at the Kelvinhall some time (though it's a wee bit teh far fer me)!
ants Said: U mean you adjust tension at the sweetspot at 26lbs and 28lbs? Well, I told my stringer to string the middle 10 main strings (26 lbs) and middle 10 cross strings (28 lbs) at higher tension than the peripherals. Mind you, my stringer has a two-point stringing machine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dill Said: Do you mean different parts of the string bed are at different tensions? How does this affect the sweet spot? Yes, different parts of the string bed are at different tension. This is the semi-proportional stringing method. To answer your second question, you should try it yourself the next time. You must have two identical racquets: i.e., AT 700 3U G5. Go to a reputable stringer and ask for 26 main X 28 cross constant stringing method on one and semi-proportional stringing on the other. For your information, my stringer didn't string the cross correctly. One, he started from the top which is a big no no. Second, he strung 24 cross strings instead of the usual 22. The two extra cross strings make the string bed a lot tighter than what it should be. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ iluvthesun Said: It should make the sweet spot bigger. Cya doon at the Kelvinhall some time (though it's a wee bit teh far fer me)! Just make sure you have a reputable stringer. Semi-proportional stringing method is good up to 28 lbs. Anything above that requires more tension reduction as you go further away from the middle.
Sounds to me like youe were a GU student? Maybe you should move back to Glasgow to experience some good badminton The Open starts in a few weeks Pete, If I ask for proportional stringing will my stringer know the different tensions to use for each row of string? Or is there a specific decrease in tension for each row after the centre strings are tensioned? Sorry didn't have time to check the thread link above
dill. it is safer to tell your stringer exactly what u want. if he still dont understand, err, better find another stringer
