. I am excited, like many badminton players, coaches, fans, etc, etc, ......, to hear that the Badminton Association of India (BAI) has come up with a concept of the USD 1 million Indian Badminton League (IBL). It is scheduled to be held from June 24 to July 11. For link for more info: http://sports.ndtv.com/othersports/...tars-make-beeline-for-indian-badminton-league Currently, some top players have said that they could be participating in this inaugural event, namely; * Tine Baun * Juliane Schenk * Tai Tzu Ying * Sony Dwi Kuncoro * Simon Santaso * Marc Zweibler * Jan O Jorgensen * Tien Minh Nguyen * Mathias Boe * Cartsen Mogensen * Lee Yong Dae * etc, etc, ...... BTW, India have recently been promoting sports with television coverage. I have watched many of their league matches (Cricket, Field Hockey) via Fox Sports (available in Australia). Let's hope that Fox Sports will cover this Indian Badminton League too. .
http://www.sportskeeda.com/2013/02/...ibl-will-create-a-new-benchmark-in-badminton/ Quotes: What has been the progress on the IBL? The franchisees will be announced on March 1st. The franchisee finalisation is going on. The auction will be on March 24th. The first franchisee meet will be on May 15th. We have yet to finalise the title sponsor. We needed the franchise partners on board first. To be honest, the response is better than what I’d expected. The first and biggest challenge was to set perpetual partners. We’ve got those six partners. Fifty to sixty percent of the work has been taken care of. Will the IBL be telecast worldwide? The eyeballs are going to be more than in cricket. We’re talking to every broadcaster in South East Asia. Totally, we’re looking at 100 countries. There will be global viewership.
2013 Indian Badminton League (from June 24 to July 11) . 100 countries? I hope Australia is included. .
