Thread: Wrist pain
11-03-2003, 06:04 PM #1
Lately I have been having severe wrist pain with my racket arm. I think this is due to overwork at the keyboard, and not enough time warming up before playing. The later being due to the limited quantity of courts at our club.
I am looking for suggestions to remedy the problem. I took 10 days off and felt better when I went back, but after 3 or 4 games the pain is there again.
I also feel I hold the grip too tight.
Any secret voodoo to make the pain go away, besides amputation?

Hmm, there are many reasons that you can have wrist pain. Unfortunately, I am no psychic.
Here are a few suggestions (by no means exhaustive):
* Before playing, do lots of warm-up, including wrist warm-up.
* Perhaps your technique of executing the strokes has been sliding... You might want to get a friend or someone local to show and correct your technique.
* Perhaps your physical fitness has been lacking due to various reasons. The racket feels heavier than usual and you are forcing yourself to use the racket (unconciously). Might want to improve physical fitness?!
