greetings guys, I acquired a VT80. I spent some time investigating it in a little bit more detail. While all the serials (engraving and also logic), hologram sticker, tension and grip size engravings, butt cap (color) are fine, I noticed 1 thing. The thickness of the T-joint. This is my first VT (or say head-heavy Yonex). Until today I only played Nanospeeds (NS8000, 9900). Yonex says this is their thinnest frame yet manufactured. I compared it to my old NS8000 (2008) and can see a the difference. I can clearly recognize that the NS8000 shaft is thinner from both angles- front and side/profile. The difference on T-joint is even bigger. I know NS's got slim heads, this VT80 has thicker head frame all over too. I don't suspect fake product (comes from official distributor/Germany), but still have a question: is this shape and thickness of the T-joint typical for a head heavy VT/AT series? I saw such thick joints only older low-end Carlton and Babolat rackets. What do you guys think from the pictures (side-by-side with my genuine NS8000)?
did Yonex say VT80 have the slimmest head? i thought they only say it has the slimmest shaft. but in any case, don't trust what the marketing dept says. the best would be to compare it with another VT80 that is known to be genuine. and use a digital caliper to measure it instead of eyeballing. the color and shadow can do strange things to our mind.
They did advertise it as the thinnest shaft, and as to why the t-joint is fatter is probably because of the tri-voltage system so it is thicker there. You wouldn't want a racket with a t-joint unproportional to the frame..
you wouldn't want to have a wimpy thin t-joint on a such a head heavy racket like vt80 and vtzf... and from those pics, the vt80 shaft is slimmer
hey visor, Justheretoplay, that is exactly what I mean, was only curious and wanted to know if that is a typical sign of a head-heavy construction and also I don't have another racket with such balance to compare it against. The point I was also making is that when a fake is manufactured; besides the common checklist we all are familiar with, it has to be a challenge for the counterfeit manufacturer to produce detailed copy just because of the complex, highly advanced manufacturing and design process Yonex is applying on their high-end products.
and i am still not clear what a thinner shaft really mean in terms of playability and performance. Yonex marketing department at work again.
It'll probably give you 1 or 2% less air resistance, but Yonex will market it as "significantly faster racket head speed".

Unless Aliexpress states it is original or genuine, it is always a replica. They do sell originals but the price is similar to other more reputable dealers!
