it's called: age, it's catching up on her.
I wonder if her coach should revise her game tactic to counter the current crop of younger players and to blend in better with her physical abilities.

beside age, little things could impair my badminton performance
    - small nick on my finger
    - floor with a bit of dust
    - imperfect net height
    - people watching us playing or not

    :(

has anyone thought that Judith Meulendijks might have played a great match?!? ;)

why always blame the best player when the match gets tight?

Well, there could be two possible reasons, one was Camilar played worse, and the other was Judith played better. My conclusion was Camilar played worse, and yours was Judith played better? It is not difficult to varify and validate the conclusions by comparing Camilar playing with other players. My conclusion still is that Camila is going down, instead of all the other whole badminton female players up to another level.

I've not seen the match so I can't tell... One thing is sure : Camilla isn't as good as she used to, relatively to the other girls!

I think she is frustrated also. First she was living in the shadow of Susi Susanti, then Ye and Bang, and then Gong ZC. After Gong ZC retired, it sounds like her turn. But now there is a Zhang Ning...

well, she did make her turn. she has won numerous Grand Prix events as well as the WC back in 1999. she was also the European Champ for the longest amount of time.

in all regards she has been one of the most consistent players who has had her influence since Susi's time. Susi retired quite a while ago.

so while she is not always the top of the world throughout her career, she did at one point. and honestly, hardly anybody can be at the top of the world throughout their career anyways, there are always ups and downs. and it does look like from recent form, Camilla isn't as threatening to other players as she used to be so perhaps that's a sign that she is at a low trend of her career.

yes, most professionals quit at the peak of their career and that's what people remembered. Some diehards want to stay on longer and nothing wrong with that. It is individual choice. Too bad people only remember performance of their last games.

Well, at least she won 1 title (Japan Open) in 2003, and nobody has humiliated her the same way Gong Zhichao did (still can't believe Gong Zhichao is capable of beating her 11-1, 11-0 in the 2001 Surdiman Cup)

that was a classic match. short vs. tall, defensive control vs. offensive, smart vs. patience, calm vs. temper. Gong just had it all. perfect footwork, perfect strategy, perfect strokes, she was in complete control. i have watched that match so many times and i still enjoy every bit of it.

i believe from the pure technical point of view, that match surpasses the Olympics final. although the Olympics finals has much more weight on the title itself!

with that performance, i was expecting Gong to take the WC crown the week after, but another Gong had other ideas...

Perhaps Camilla hasn't won a lot of tournaments recently, but she has said herself to the danish newspaper that she is tired of badminton right now and thats why she quits China Open.

Before the quarter final against Jun Camilla didnt care if she lost or not and thats mainly the reason why the matches hasn't gone her way. Camilla also said after Denmark open that she didn't had the motivation, but now a long rest comes and she looks forward to it so that she can gain her motivation back and be ready for 2004...

How can a proessional badminton player declare that s/he doen'st care whether s/he wins or loses a match? A lot of things may be going through Camilla's mind. She must be unhappy or frustrated, but to preserve her imagine, she really should have kept those comments to herself instead of telling them to a Danish newspaper. She's might give people the impression that after losing to Jun fair and square, she's using the explanation "she doesn't care" as an excuse. This behaviour doesn't sound too professional.

you´re right, but everybody knows that the newspaper can manipulate and give the readers untrue information. Camilla hasn't got the motivation right now but I think the newspaper made up the thing about that she did not care if she won or lost
