I thought it's not viewable in Australia as well but then I found out that the video wouldn't play if you have plugin such as Adblock, Adblock Plus, etc on your browser.

so weird how they show all these kids and poor people playing in make shift mud and poor condition court and wearing broken shoes.

and then there is Taufik with his Ferrari and lavish home.

Yeah, abit contrast there. Probably they were trying to tell how Badminton is being played pretty much by all kinds of people in Indonesia regardless of wealth or status which is true in my experience.
But then, I didn't understand any French at all. Only understood the Indonesian being spoken by the players.

The documentary shows that badminton is more than simply a sport, more than a national sport. It's a way of life. They showed the badminton school in Gresik (if i remember correctly) to show the French public that badminton is part of everybody's life in Indonesia. Same with the poor guys playing on this makeshift court in the kampung.
Then, the doc ends with video interviews of Taufik Hidayat, Sony Kuncoro and Simon Santoso. The interviews with Kuncoro and Santoso emphasised the fact that players are not allowed to leave the training centre without permission, and the players said that the rule is fair to them...

Bear in mind that the French general public (not badminton fans) is not very much aware of what badminton is. This TV show has a growing reputation for broadcasting great quality documentaries on sports, and sportsmen.

It's a great thing to watch this programme on the most popular private TV channel in France.

Yes, I saw that, it is a beautiful TV report :)

That being said, in France, plenty of young people play badminton at school, and it is often considered (by the French badminton federation, at least :p) to be the #1 secondary school sport. The federation is trying to develop the sport, and the results are quite satisfactory -- for non-elite levels at least :D When I compare the situation between France and the UK, it makes me sad for the UK
