. Our $US120,000 (in total prize money) 2013 Australian Open (from April 02 to April 07) is ready to go. Posters pasted everywhere show Taufik Hidayat about to smash. Wonder if he is participating? Heard that World No.1, Lee Chong Wei, is coming too. Let's wait for more info from BWF later. Tickets are already on sale. most country seems to sending backup and half force. best representation from THA and INA. Nozomi will be wearing her new gears for the first time.
Disappointed that fewer top players from CHN and KOR will be attending . It's a disappointment that fewer top players from CHN and KOR will be attending this year. I am also unable to go to Sydney to attend. Hope that our BCers who are able to attend, can send us news, photos, reports, etc, etc, ...... when the tournament begins. .
Also MAS as well, Lee Chong Wei and Koo/Tan are registered Next year edition of AUS Open will have much stronger line-up due to new status as one of SS tourney
Malaysia and Thailand almost sent full force But for the other nations... barely sent their 2nd team. Disappointing line-up to say the least! Korea sent only a few players, Japan barely sent any and no European appearance I guess Australia still not an important enough country to other nations
It's a long way to come for Europeans when there's the risk of being knocked out early... All that travel for the risk of a 30 minute match? Not worth it!
But even higher ranked players like Boe and Mogensen, with good chance of at least getting into the finals... I'm sure they would contest It's just they don't believe, even if they won, that they get alot out of the tournament... the prize money, points and glory just isn't enough Hopefully next year's SS will encourage more European participation
I just saw Xue Song's name among the MS qualifiers. Woo-hoo, I look forward to see him play. And Qiao Bin too.
Xue Song is finally coming out to the world tour! Would like to see how he fairs against his Chinese veterans
