A bit embarrassing that Sweden got 5-0ed by England, losing WS and WD was no surprise, but Jacob Nilsson losing to Alex Lane? What .

    Finals Day

WD final will be played between Gabriela/Stefani Stoeva from Bulgaria and Julie Finne-Ipsen with her partner Rikke Hansen again. In German Juniors three weeks ago the Stoeva sisters won convincingly, so it will be interesting to see if the danish girls can force a different outcome this time. Stefani Stoeva will also appear in the WS final against Line Kjaersfeldt. MD will be between danish pairs Antonsen/Babic and Christiansen/Daugard. In MS dutch boy Mark Caljouw will face german hope Fabian Roth.

David Daugard is the second player reaching the finals in two different competitions, as he will try to win in XD with Maiken Fruergaard against dutch Robin Tabeling and Halkema Myke.

XD Podium where silver was "won" [ they already won that yesterday, today they lost the gold]. Apparently a deserved victory for the Danes, simply outplayed according to the Dutch team manager ... Good thing the streaming is working so well we could all witness it: !

I am just curious if these players are still eligible for the WJC 2013 as some of them were born in 1994 (which means they will turn 19 this year).

You can be 19 and still compete in U19 events, as long as you're born in 1994.

Some are and some are not no. Players under 19 y.o. in 2012 were eligible to play this EJC ... A date of September 1st has been mentioned in the regulations which is the normal start of the season (but the Badminton Europe Junior circuit runs from April 30th to April 28 2013; not that it has to have anything to do with it as it is not mentioned in the EJC regulations at all )

    "9. ELIGIBILITY TO COMPETE

9.1 Participation shall be restricted to players in good standing with their Member Associations and a
player’s eligibility to compete shall be in accordance with BWF Competition Regulations 8.2 to 8.4.
Players are eligible provided they remain under 19 years of age throughout the calendar year in which
1st of September immediately preceding the European Junior Championships are held takes place."

Tabeling/Halkema are 1994 so they are not and Caljouw and Roth are both 1995 for example ... Stefani Stoeva and Lansac are 1995 but Kjaersfeldt and Yigit are 1994 ...

WJC 2013 rules I'm sure will state that player has to remain under 19 in 2013.

Antonsen/Babic look set to take it, favorites beforehand in my book (and probably most). That Daugaard had too much energy drink this morning ... and just as I write this he get's a yellow card .

So the 2013 EJC has come to an end with the following results on finals day (and Easter but football is also played on this day nowadays so nothing should surprise us anymore on that end ):

The 2013 European Junior Championships finals:

MS: Fabian Roth (GER) - Mark Caljouw (NED) 21-17, 21-14
WS: Stefani Stoeva (BUL) - Line Kjaersfeldt (DEN) 21-13, 23-25, 21-19
    MD: Antonsen/Babic (DEN) - Daugaard/Christiansen (DEN) 21-17, 25-23
    WD: Stoeva/Stoeva (BUL) - Finne-Ipsen/Hansen (DEN) 21-11, 21-18
    XD: Daugaard/Fruergaard (DEN) - Tabeling/Halkema (NED) 21-15, 21-18

Finals report by Mark Phelan for BE: http://www.badmintoneurope.com/cms/d...=5381&m=625951.

Just happened to watch two of the interviews and a.) the XD champs played together for the first time this tournament and b.) Antonsen/Babic lost to their opponents most times so far so I guess probably not the favorites in most books beforehand then ...
This tournament has largely passed by me so no end conclusion from my end . Who will we still see in 5-10 years time ... WS looks like good crop again ...
