So i have been using my Ashaway superlight t5 sq for about two years now; i enjoy playing with it, but think that i am due an uprgrade. i am 16 and have been playing at county level for about 4 years so i would say i am intermediate, maybe advanced at a push. I play 70% doubles and 30% singles. i am looking for a racquet that is could for control and fast play, but can also pack a slight punch. i am currently looking at the new arcsaber fb and the z-slash. (also i cannot trial any racquet only feel in a shop etc.) the racquet can cost any price really but probably about 100+ thanks.
first i would ask what you don't like about your current racket and why you think you're ready for an upgrade?
i dont know about your current racket, but looking at the price, i can say it's a decent racket.... but for me, 75g is too light for me.... if you want a fast and good control racket, i can suggest arcsaber 11 and voltric 70.... im using voltric 70 and it's a very all round racket, good for attack, control and defense... a bit head heavy but very maneuverable.... dont try arcsaber 11 yet, but yonex arcsaber is made for control and fast play.... if you want cheaper option, apacs tantrum 200 maybe another good option....
i used the voltric 70 about year ago and i didnt like it at all.. although my technique has improved majorly over this time. i need something stiff as my ashaway flexes far to easily now. im torn between vt 80 z slash and the new arc 11.. no way ill get a racket as light as 75 i need 80-85 really
mainly the flex because i have tried rackets that are stiff and i can generate a ton more power.. also soomething abit more heavy and a even balanced that maybe is a little head heavy
i know vt70 is not stiff as vt80 and others, but you just said about fast racket.... i dont think vt80 is fast racket unless you have a very strong arm , it is quite heavy(at least for me, need more training)..... how about Victor BS LYD??
i have heard alot of good things about victor... never had a chance to play with any of their stuff might have to check it out. by the way i dont want a racket to way more than 85g. i think at the moment the z slash seems good but im happen to shop around for a while... i have played z slash and liked it, it was quite hard to get used to though.
z-slash's frame is smaller compare to other yonex's racket except z-force..... a lot of timing issues i heard about people who changed to z-slash.... but not for z-force, maybe the head is very heavy.... z-slash is 3U in yonex, that would be 85-89g... i dont know the exact weight, but there is possibilities z-slash more that 85g right....
i have played with the z slash and liked it, i dont want something thats as crazy head heavy like the z force, seems like something that would not suit me as i predominantly play doubles; however i have never tried the z force, so i will never know. im going to the local badminton shop soon so i will try all top end models from yonex and whatever feels the best i will most likely try, i want to try a z force as i hear they are incredibly powerful!
yes i have, but only lower end ( about 40.00) they seem to be really average rackets, i cant speak for the higher ranges of course.
country level means you are pretty decent player. i'd skip the ARC-FB as you will break it in around a week. if you want Yonex, something like a ARC11/ARC10 if you like medium balance / all around.
yeah, my thoughts exactly. i am not able to feel an arcsaber 11 in store as the shop i go to is pretty awful. they have an arcsaber 10. i imagine they are pretty much the same so if i like the 10 i may order the 11 of central sports
you also mentioned ARC7. it is a good racket, the balance and overall feel is close to ARC10, but slightly to the soft side. if you play at county you may overpower it. i'd suggest start with an ARC10.
yeah, theres probably not that much difference between the arc 11 and 10. the biggest difference is yonex marketing making you think its that diffrent
yeah the arc 10 seems look a good overall choice, i dont want to risk the timing issue of the slash. should i just buy an arc 11 as i have to save for a while to buy a new racket as im only 16
