When you take your racket to a shop for stringing, when do you expect and tell the shop to finish the job? within one hour, a few hours, one day, a few days or a week?
I think it's usually the other way round, the shop would tell 'you' when they expect to have it done and when you have to come back for it. Depends how busy they are.
This. Sometimes it takes me up to a week to give the racket back, because I can mainly only string during weekends ( college ). Sometimes I'll string for the day after for emergencies but I can't always do that. But if I was always working at the store, it'd pretty much depend on how many rackets I have to string and it'd be on a FCFS basis except for exceptional cases.
In Hong Kong, things are very different. The shop would ask when would you like the racket back. Many people in Hong Kong would answer "immediately"!!!
I been to a couple of shops in HK and they never seem that busy hence why they probably can do it there and then, but then again if they were back logged with 20 rackets I doubt they will ask when do you want it back.
in my case, i would usually need to email/call up my clients, "Your racket has been done for 2 weeks already, when are you going to come pick it up?" (and pay me....)
But when does the customer actually get the racquet back? I can get it done in two days but I am very fussy with choice of shop I go to. Two days is fine for me since I have 4/5 racquets to use.
When customers demands "immediate" service, they usually get it in one hour, or, depending on how busy the shop is, a few hours.
We usually ask the customer when they want it done by. If they say "immediately" we check the racquet queue to give them an estimate on how long that would take. If there are no racquets that need to be done within that half hour, we just make it our highest priority and get it done right away. People seem to be fine with that system so far and so are we.
