o.k here is something about the new canon 20d dslr. my friend's just got one at the price of 11000 something hk dollars from canon hk. that is about 6-700 dollars less than the market price here, because he's a canon professional services member. hehe...there are always some special offers for us. like in august. canon hk sell us the 10d for $9000 something hk!
how much does a 20d costs in spore ant? if u really think that price is attractive, email me be4 u come to hk then i'll tell my friend to get one for u at that price.

    kwun/guys,

street price of nikon d70 body from man shing camera, $7100. with the kit lens $9200, of coz in hk dollars. from wing shing camera, $7100 for the body itself. $9000 along with kit lens. from boardway photo, $7180 for the body. with the lens will cost u 9180 there.
from nikon hk, price of a d70 body is around $6900 for the nps member.( not much difference!!! ) and the kit lens i guess is just 2-30 bucks lower than the street price.
for the canon 20d body. the mark price in hk is $12980 may be the best price u can get is something like $12500. but at this moment, u can hardly find one because they are all out of stock!
cps members through canon hk will have a special offer @ $11700.
    that's all i can tell u guys.

    regards

red00ecstrat, thanks for the price report!

$900 is around $100 cheaper than the US, but still a lot of money...

    Default microtek: any good?

    hi guys.

have you heard of microtek? i know nuts about digicams so im asking for your advice. the model is microtek take-it mv300. its very small (IMO) and the box says 6 magapixels (interpolated). what does the interpolated part mean? the shop attendent had no clue either.

at the momment i can buy it at RM 899 (thats about USD 240) with a free 128 MB card. i havent done much surveying in town yet tho but is slightly better than the price on the net: http://www.mcl.com.my/

for more info pls visit http://www.microtek.com.sg

    Thanks red00ecstrat.

I'm going to faint. $9200 Hong Kong dollars is $1510 Canadian. Retail stores are selling the D70 for $1899 Canadian with kit lens. That's a saving of $400!!!! Of course, there's logistics, taxes to consider

I think he meant the tax the Canana custom would charge upon the shipment arrives. (Canada has import tax for shipments coming in)

3.5 MP is the real resolution. the 6MP values comes from software interpolation. ie. it guesses the color value between pixels and artificiallly blows up the image size.

    Hi all,

i have merged together all the camera and badminton photograhy discussions into this one thread and made it a sticky. there are quite a few professional and amateur photographers in this forum and taking badminton pictures is always an interesting topic. this shows that all of us badminton fanatics are interested in anything related to badminton.

Hope your house didn't become a swamp after all that drooling.

actually, that's kinda true. 7 out of 10 people who used my V1 had their hand covering the flash thus not allowing it to pop up. but that's pretty much the only downside i found about that camera. the size isn't the smallest but it is small and light enough for janet to carry around. the battery life is great and images are very sharp. good point and shoot camera.

oh, the only other thing bad about it is the transfer speed, there is a 1-2 second lag after every shot. i am not sure if that's inherent in the camera or if it has to do with the fact that i am using a regular (non-Pro) memorystick. the lag is pretty much unnoticable if i use 3MP instead of full 5MP mode.
