    Default The end is near .....

    That is to the qualification period (last Thursday of April), not another of Mayan’s ‘end of the world’ prophecy.

    We have only Australia GPG and New Zealand GP plus a couple of minor tournaments left, here are the latest to date (28/03/2013).

    The no of top 8 players/pairs by countries are as follow;
    MS WS MD WD XD total
    1 China 2 3 2 3 2 12
    2 Denmark 1 1 1 1 1 5
    3 Indonesia 1 3 4
    3 Japan 1 1 2 4
    3 Korea 1 2 1 4
    3 Malaysia 1 2 1 4
    7 Thailand 1 1 1 3
    8 India 1 1 2
    9 Germany 1 1
    9 Hong Kong 1 1

    None of the countries has the max 4 in any of the 5 events; in fact only China (WS and WD) and Indonesia (XD) have 3 in the top 8.

    This is the no of top 24 players/pairs by countries;
    MS WS MD WD XD total
    1 Indonesia 3 2 5 4 6 20
    2 China 4 5 3 4 2 18
    3 Malaysia 3 5 3 3 14
    4 Japan 3 3 2 3 1 12
    5 Thailand 2 4 1 2 2 11
    6 Denmark 3 1 2 1 3 10
    6 Korea 2 2 4 2 10
    8 Germany 1 1 1 1 4
    8 Hong Kong 2 1 1 4
    10 Chinese Taipei 1 2 3
    10 England 2 1 3
    10 India 1 2 3
    13 Singapore 1 1 2
    14 Bulgaria 1 1
    14 Poland 1 1
    14 Russia 1 1
    14 Sweden 1 1
    14 U.S.A. 1 1
    14 Vietnam 1 1

    We have quite a few countries exceeded the max no of 3 allowed.

    So, either Chen Long and Lin Dan or Chen Long without LD plus 2 others.
    My guess is LD will go for his home tournament.

    Will WSX will be picked again, if not, who will go instead? Han Li, may be.

    With the injuried ZHONG Qianxin, the choice for the WD seems pretty straight forward.

    MAS also have to pick 3 out of the 5 MD in the top 24;

    Again, will they just pick the top 3?

    Both Korea (4WD) and Thailand (4WS) has to pick 3 out of their top 4.

    Tough choice for the Thai as well, will they go for the youth (21 yrs old Sapsiree) or even younger (17 yrs old Busanan)!

    AlanY, I like your dry sense of humour, 'The end is near...', whoever comes across such a title can't helped but want to find out what's it about.

    Btw, Wang ZM is presently ranked 11, not 10, and I think there's no way he can improve it to within 8 as he's not enrolled for the AUS and NZ Opens, and I doubt he can win the BAC with Chen Long and Lin Dan around.

    the points calculated are different to BWF's as I only added points from the first week of April/2012 to eligible for the WC qualification.

    For the MD, INA's SETIAWAN/AHSAN are now their top team with the second place in the Australia.
    And KIDO/CHANDRA is at No 3 with only 100 points advantage over team mates DASUKI/GUNAWAN!

    Remember last year he missed out qualification for London by about 60 points! Sweet revenge.
    Kido and his sister also 3rd for the XD as well.

    What's the rule on a pairing where individuals represent different countries?

    although the table shows Nehwal ahead of LI Xuerui in the qualification.
    It's quite difficult for her to catch up with Li real soon.

    for that to happen she needs to win the next two t'ments, BAC and India Open and Li didn't got passed the SF for both.

    No, I assure you it's allowed for World Championships.

    Nedelcheva/Russkikh did it, I'm wondering for Nedelcheva/Bankier...

    yes, you're right.
    from the offical rules;

    "Players in a pair representing two different Member Associations
    3.2.9 In the event that players from two different Member Associations compete together as a
    pair, each player will be counted as ½ an entry for the respective Member Association in
    that event."
