For the New Zealand Open,it is only Xue Song's second adult tournament and he's slated to meet his teammate, Qiao Bin, in R2, so I won't expect him to sail into the final even though he's in the opposite half from his giant-killing teammate, Tian Houwei. However,I'm curious to see how Xue Song squares up to the top seed Simon Santoso should he gets past Qiao Bin.

Any idea what happened to QB in his match against LCW in the AO. Certainly it is not easy for any player to beat LCW but he was literally thrashed. He had more respectable results against LCW previously.

Correction. QB had not played LCW before prior to AO 2013.

Not sure as I didn't get to watch the match. It showed that LCW's form overall wasn't bad at all, in fact quite good though not at his best despite reports saying he didn't have enough training prior to the tournament. LCW also trounced Prasojo, 21-7 and 21-7, and beat Arvind Bhat decisively, 21-10 and 21-18.

Agree . The match was like him playing LD or CL. I thought LcW played well too.

Great job, Xue Song. Two MS final appearances in your first two adult international tournaments and a couple of notable scalps, viz.Taufik Hidayat and Nguyen Tienh Min. Keep it up, you will go far, young lad.

2cents,you're right;Xue Song played 8 matches each in the AUS and NZ Opens. And he came straight to the AUS Open after playing and winning the China national youth MS championship and competed in the team event as well. In total,he has been playing 30 over matches continually in the last 4 weeks as you've stated, an arduous schedule for a young body.

I guess CBA never expected him to progress to the final in both the AUS and NZ tournaments, probably thought they might be early exits for the sake of gaining experience. For sure,he has far exceeded expectations and proved to be a very promising player,a future star. How many players can go that far in their maiden tournament, not to mention the second one in succession as well;just imagine, as an unranked, unseeded qualifier to make it to the final in both occasions. An excellent achievement for a newcomer by any standards, in my opinion.

Just finishing watching the match, he was outplayed by the Japanese. Is this fine Japanese player will become a hurdle for him in the future?

i watched the match too. Though the japanese guy played really well, i wouldn't say he outplayed Xue Song. Song clearly was tired, he was a lot less precise and almost didn't attack at all.
