    question to calgarians

do any of you know whether it's okay to wear one-coloured shirts at the calgary winter club? on the entry form for this tournament, it says "coloured shorts" are acceptable..i would assume they prefer white shirts but i know rules can be bent in some occasions.

i think colored shirt is ok but white still have to be the dominant color. :(

oh i see...reason for me asking is because in many clubs, i see many people wearing yonex shirts and many are not "majority white"..guess i'll be packing whites just in case

went to see them on saturday for a few hours just to see who are hot these days.

I even saw the kid (richard liang) from vancouver whom i first saw him when i was at VRC (vancouver trip) this year Sept. His execution are quite deadly, using deception in almost every shot. However he lost to a calgary player (Dan something from glencoe) 16-17, 16-17. Later i had a chat with him. He said he was up 15-3 and 14-9 but lost in the end both times. His stamina was his reason and made tons of unforced errors later on the game. . He hardly trains at all. The Dan guy played basic strokes and maintained his pace throughtout. I'm sure Dan is well conditioned with ardy w. being his coach. Talked to Dan's dad too and he was super happy because at the being of each game, richard just overwhelmed dan.

On the equipment angle, shb89 seem very popular. Eyeball i say 60% of players wears them. Couple of kids wore shb98. Didnt see any asics typoon tho.* Some nike court shoes and older yonex (92 & 85).

    * it seem asics typoon is hard to get. One store clerk said asics only make limited number of them. Wierd.

    richard liang is ridicolous

he played at Toronto junior Open and for at least two or three shots he was standing straight up right day dreaming yet still managed to finish off the shots and end the rally. He def. has very nice shots with clear cut deception. One thing i noticed, tho im not sure if it was me or not was that he tenede to sometimes double tap the floor twice before hitting a shot, now it wasnt every rally but it seemed every so often he would tap it twice in succesion. Oveall a very interesting player to watch

yes, richard is quite the skilled one. i'm not sure who beat him in the tourny though. i know alex pang and chris lee from BC were in the finals. alex ended up winning in 2

    Hey Buddy,

Sorry to hear about your poor showing at the tournament... I am sure that you get better results the next time. Experience in tournaments adds up and eventually you will perform to your expectation. Good Luck!

    ...

yea... lol it was unreal to be even playing in the same tourney as a lot of those guys. the doubles finals, between dejong/kiefer and ng/lau was same crazy stuff. tons of smashing, and insane defense to match. i think ng and lau both had verts of like 2 feet or more for their jumpsmashes!
lol, yea richard liang has quite the on court demeanor, seems very casual about it, all the time, but is awesome also (won.. TO open doubles?).
and the tourny was pretty much yonex dominated. lots of mp 99's, some 1oo's, lots of the shb 89's like cooler said. lol i think i was the onli one with adidas court shoes. a good number of forza sponsored and users also tho, with liang and his partner having the onli victor sponsorships.
lol yes, i think us edmontonians were quite shown up. u19 at least, we didn't make it past the first two or three rounds, mebbe an exception for one or two of the female players.
