    Totally agree.
22x24 (or you call it 23) sounds really good to me.

I think I am going to string some rackets tonight.....

i think this question is very subjective.
A poll is more suitable for this question.

we'll be arguiing about what range of tensions the poll should cover!

specific? range? proportional? main x cross? etc.

    1. any alternate ideas for the ideal tension.
    2. can you swing by and pick me up... it's getting chilly, and the locals are starting to stare.

Come on cooler, go for three strikes!

For information, 23lbs seems to be what most of my customers want nowadays. A few of them ask to have their rackets strung as high as 28lbs and even fewer ask for tension less than 21lbs, so it seems that even beginner players are starting to opt for higher tension than what Yonex recommends.

at 22 lbs, it's under warranty for most racket brands. For 23 and up, warranty technically voided.

for me the ideal tension also depends on what strings that i'm using. If i am using bg 65ti , sometimes i to have tension up to 32lbs. But if Bg 68ti which i usually use.. my tension is 28 to 29lbs.

For me, 24 lbs to keep it high enough to last a long time, after which it would fall by itself to 22 - 23lbs which I feel is the optimum playing tension for me.

I use 24lbs for all types of strings.

A slightly exageratted analogy might be made with someone asking for the 'ideal' shoe size.

I still think you have to bring the string guage into it.

Even if all you do is say 23lb and BG-65

I think for the sake of having the fun to talk about every factor affecting the tension you should choose, I prefer not to have a conclusion on this issue.

There is AN ideal tension for each individual situation made up by parameters (frame construction, string type, play style, etc...)

Kwun, I think you are talking about a UNIVERSAL tension which suits most of the situations.

Paracetamol is a UNIVERSAL drug for most cold and pain symptoms. But is Paracetamol the IDEAL drug for a particular syndrome?

While not having a conclusion (there won't be one), in the meantime, if anybody asks, just say ... 23 lbs ...

    Default For simplicity's sake...

23lbs should be a standard reply for BF'ers who are simply tired of going over the issues repeatedly. For those who wants to go over this oft-repeat issue, check out the old threads and you'll mostly like find viewpoints similar to your own. This thread is simply for those who haven't come to the conclusion that ideal tension is really subjective matter even after all the scientific argument involved.

Sheesh... talk about clubbing a snake over the head, even after it's dead... LOL

We reached a concensus of roughly 23lbs as ideal tension, and that is fine with me

Let's leave it at that. LOL
