# Thread: let's together answer : what is the ideal tension?

I am wondering about the extreme high tensions you are talking about. Tensions over 10kg -> 22lbs seem to be very rare in germany. The man in the sportshop called me crazy when I told him I wanted 24lbs tension.

Furthermore can it be true that the tension of the cross-strings is 2lbs higher than the tension of the lengthwise strings? That doesn't sound reasonable for me

2. My school team iDeal tension is all 26Lb while mine is 27lb....hope this will help...

3. 2 questions:

1. Most Yonex rackets (including my Ti-7 Light) recommends stringing at 17 to 22 pounds, but my classmates told me they have a tolerance of around +2-3 pounds so even if I string at 25 pounds and miss badly the racket would still survive, is that true? (But warranty is voided, isn't it?)

2. The sticker that indicates the recommended string tension, weight and grip of the racket puzzles me. For example, my sticker says 17-22 lbs, 7.5-9.5 kg, but if you do a conversion, 7.5-9,5 kg is equivalent to 16.5-20.9 lbs instead!
Could this mean that the one in pounds refers to the cross string while the one in kg refers to the main string?

3. If both the cross and main strings are stringed at the same tension, will there be any side-effects?

4. anyone had tried highest tension for MP-100? i wanna strung it at 30Lb dunno if i could?

5. We have bought a AT800OF cp from a Pro coach. He put 27LB on the string. He said he put 27LB on most of the YY model he uses but those models he uses are cp code.

6. Only 27Lb?? my Current Mp-100 is being strung at 28Lb and i have no problem in clearing cross court...

7. It depends... for pple with low stength a lower tension is better... able to bounce the birdie further... but i take high tension... too much strenght... currently using Yonex MP 27 at 22 lbs... still too low... perhaps 28 will be good for me...and of coz the nice smashing sound...

i have a cab 210.I dont know at what tension it was strung.But the strings

have started losing tension.I just wanted to know at what tension should i

string the racket.It is a u-g4 one.A very basic racket.and i am going for

BG-65 strings.

10. well can anyone tell me if a racket strung at higher tension will contrast well with the racket.for example do you all recommend a 4u racket be strung at 22lbs or 28lbs.(im not very sure how to ask this qn hope you all understand my point)

11. If we restring our racket with a higher tension will it be heavier? cos 2 of my friends went to restring their racket with a higher tension n their rackets seem to be heavier.

should be lighter (by less than 1 gram though, so don't expect to notice it) if nothing else is changed

13. I duuno why whenever I ask stringer to string my rackets at 25 ot 26lbs they always look at me with a frown! What's up!
Does the tension reflect that I am an amature or pro it does not and is personal preference. I tried tension from 23lbs to 26lbs and to be frank.....I need 25lbs at least.
Tension below 23lbs...sends my shuttle everywhere! I even asked my buddy to get my racket done for me....w/o him telling me the tension he strung my racket....after playing for 4 games....I was able to ID that he strung for me below 25lbs.....he strung at 22lbs.

Actually from the sound I could tell its...not strung to my usual. But what I don't get is the reaction i get from stringer upon my request. Say what? 25lbs....u better have strong wrist brother etc etc etc.

Try increasing by 2lbs each time....until u get ur right tension. Thats what i did. USe and cut and try and repeat.
MAybe u like me will like 25lbs....somewhat inbetween.

15. Here's a thought.

Know how BG-85 is marked as having "higher repulsion" than BG-65?

Personally, I don't have the strongest arm yet... is it even worth the time to string BG-85 at lower tensions (20lbs and lower in my book) or does the extra slack not take advantage of it, compared in terms of performance/economy of BG-65?

17. I'll say that it's a personal thing... I think that it should be as hard as possible..wich is different from player to player.. I like playing with 36lbs @ bg80
