My shoulder used to hurt after intense training sessions with heavier rackets; after switching to ArcSaber FB I can play up to 5 times a week (3-4 hours per session) painless. So for me I can definitely say that lighter rackets prevent me from a sore shoulder.

For sure stiff head heavy rackets like VZTF can cause shoulder pain... ask me how I know. :)

That's interesting. I have used a cab 20 original for the past 14 years and get very few problems. I think I am rather lucky in that respect and can play for quite a long time. It's rated 2U.

I just have got some golfer's elbow. I think it is due to trying a slightly different smash technique.

I had elbow and shoulder pain from a 5U after being fine with a 3U. I'd say it depends on technique as it's been on and off.

For me, not really. I've been using a 3U MX80 (weight at the top end of 3Us) and there doesn't seem to be any side effects. I guess I just got used to the weight.

I play 6-9 hours a week and the only time I have had any soreness was when I practised smashing almost 500 times consecutively at the end of the night with one of the best players in my club who wanted to practice defending! My lungs gave out before my shoulders or arms!
The next day my rotary cuff area felt a little sore.
But I'm not built like a badminton player so I don't have any upper body issues!

the 3U's ok but the 4U vtzf gave me elbow pain.. i've used down to U racquets, 2U ones even, and the weight doesnt cause as much problems as "headweight/balance"
