howdy. i am kwun. occupation: i am an engineer working in a computer company. badminton skill: only so so, not too spectacular, but not too shabby either. i am a complete badminton fanatic / nut / crazy, whatever you call it. here is how i got into the sport. history so in the old old days when kwun was this little kid running around school, i hardly knew what badminton was. but i still remember the very first time i played in a real badminton court, it was one of those outing days for the primary school, we went to this activity camp with an indoor gym. so i picked up a racket and start hitting around. i still remember that i was so clueless and all i did was hit it high up. probably a panhandle type of grip. but i was hooked already. i spend the whole day there, missed all other activities and missed out lunch. (still sounds pretty familiar today. ) so fast forward a couple of year, in secondary school, my classroom opens up to this little court yard, technically it is outdoor, but there are buildings on all 4 sides of the courtyard, you know, in HK, buildings are high and packed. so i started playing badminton in this courtyard. and it just happens that it is around the size of a badminton court, may be a bit larger. i would spend all my breaks and lunch hours and afterschool hitting birides in the courtyard. and i think that is the real start of badminton for me. fast forward a few more years, hoping through different schools, badminton wasn't always available, in and out for a few years, my love for the game was renewed in graduate school where i found a group of keen players. so i picked up the racket again so to speak and started playing. after i found a real job now as a engineer, i have been keeping it up and badminton for sure will be part of my life till eternity. BC/BF/BR but my love for badminton has made me decided to put something back into the game, so i started the suite of websites, BadmintonCentral/BadmintonForum/BadmintonReview.com. it has been a very rewarding experience for me, i learned a lot about badminton in the process, and also get to meet a lot of badminton friends. other stuff not much, i live in the SF Bay Area, play a lot of badminton. i am also a hifi fan but these days time is rather limited for another hobby...
I was looking for the first person who posted here, I look for an apple, and I got a tree., because surprisingly I got this infoabout kwun and ants.. I know kwun was raised up in HK (is it?) a good introduction especially the occupation part, I love that, at least I know that Kwun is an engineer and ants is into health & education industry, I don't know, but I wonder is that the reason why "Malaysia, Philippines, TH, Singapore" are written under ants' location category (a borderless health volunteer? ) I am looking forward to some introduction like this from Loh .Well.. Kwun posted this introduction long long time ago. Its just that most of us didn't really read thru all the threads.
It was a test...test of how well you know the search engine and its functionalities. i.e. batting practice for forum novices.
when badmintonforum was born kwun? can u remember what the first post was and who's the first member?
The first one should be Kwun himself. The 2nd might be me.... I'm in the top five. The badminton forums around that time were the Buffalo forum and Harvard forum. One day, a computer geek in Pensylvania got his racquet restrung and wondered why the pattern looked a bit funny. He posted the question in the Buffalo forum. A guy in HK, who had a bit too much time on his hands, managed to give some advice on that forum which helped solve the problem. Later on, the computer geek started his own badminton website and forum in the depths of winter. It drew more and more people. So much so, the other forums didn't get a look in. During the next few months, many more people joined in. There was one notbale person from Sweden, quite a number from Singapore and then other various places got into the forum. In the early days, the forum software was quite basic. Although, everybody was basically happy, misunderstandings did come about (similar to other forums). This bothered the computer geek a lot as it was quite difficult to moderate. Such misunderstandings and ensuing conflicts also detracted from the main aim. To solve these problems, software was upgraded and moderators were added in and later, more subdivisions of the forum. At present, probably the biggest representatives of the forum members are the Canadians.

..(sorry, haven't been reading thru the intro threads as much).. ..ah, interesting "genesis" to how BC/BF was founded-who knew also the 2 people, literally, responsible/involved in starting this BC/BF would then switched places of living(Cheung back to H.K. and Kwun to U.S.)..hehe BTW, are Canadians still the "biggest" reps of the forum members as to date??..
