I really have not seen this done here by local stringers... The string job came from overseas. The main and cross end with just one knot at the shared hole... I have yet to play with this racket with the string job as it is night time here. Will play tomorrow to see what is going on. Most of the stringers are wold do a 4 knots stringing. I am curious to know are there any advantages and disadvantages of the single knot stringing? Pics below:
I still do not know how this is done. Could the stringer tied both the main and cross ends together into one knot? (but then the knot should be significantly larger) Or maybe the main and cross transition is overlapped, and only used one piece of string forth eentire racket? (take a look as the side views, the strings are neatly overlapped)
it wasn't intentional, just the knot came to be too small and it slipped inside. not a good thing, but nothing major, though.
Actually I looked into that'll the shared grommets earlier this morning. I cannot find the other knot. I took the racket out in broad sunlight, and I still cannot find the missing knot. It looks like it may be strung with a single knot for the main and cross Also played the other day with the racket and the new strings. At 23lbs, it perform well enough. Strung with BG-66UM
IF there is only 1 knot, the only way I think it is possible is that the racket was strung from side-to-side for mains then continued onto crosses. If this is true, then that's a very bad stringer!
Interesting.. it got me thinking... Technically it can be done! If you start and finish at the same spot... Couple of concerns 1. The mains cannot be tightened from the middle. 2. The stress point is double at the knot because you are starting and ending at the same place.. in other words, you are not evenly spreading the stress on the racket.
a couple of points. - a string has 2 ends. so technically there is really just 2 knots lumped into one. - i don't see why it cannot be done with mains center out. all one string patterns can be done that way. but that makes me start thinking. is it really not possible to do one knot?
