http://ondeckwithemmagibs.wordpress.com/2012/07/30/backyard-bbq-or-olympic-sport/ To my mind, a very poorly considered article. I have posted two replies which have yet to be approved by the moderator. I doubt very much they ever will be approved since I strongly disagreed with her post based not only on the view expressed, but also based on her obvious bias toward American interests.
what a stupid idiot posted this it makes one angry to read that whole ******** i posted a comment too, dont know if the author still approves anything since the entry is long ago
The subtitle the Home page where this article is written is: "An aspiring young sports reporter's blog". So why in the world should we get our knickers in a knot about an obscure blog that contains nothing more than a young person practicing up her jounalistic skills? It's like something in a grade schooler's Creative Writing notebook. The offending article was her practicing her cynical/ ironic voice. Important for her development as a sports reporter, but for the very few of us who accidentally come upon it, it should be insignificant. And certainly not worth accelerating the greying of even one hair on anyone's head.
Passive resistance has done very little in the world to bring about change. And when change does occur, it is usually preceded by extremely negative events. Don't forget that Badminton was being reviewed by the olympic committee to see if it would continue to be included in the olympics. Sentiments like this, even if expressed by only one aspiring journalist, have a way of being picked up by the masses. A quick google search of badminton will show that many already share her feelings. Anyway, what bothered me most about the article was the obvious lack of world vision displayed by this poster. Claiming that nobody knows the names of these stars shows that she is thinking only of her own corner of the world and having no global vision at all. A sad post. But she and others like her need to be shown that their opinion is only that. An opinion. If she had gathered evidence to support her claims, I would not be writing this. Educating people is the way to bring enlightenment. Not ignoring them.
