I'm looking to buy a spare racket and I like 27lbs tension like on my cab 20. Is it safe to string the lower end cabs i.e cab 8600, cab 8000 to 27lbs?
i give you props for using that high of a string tension on an oval frame, i tried 22lbs on my 8600ti and it was stiff as a board!!! i might try to string it higher on my 8800power but not sure at what tension.
agree. cab frames are smaller which has higher effective tension. i'd usually go down 10% on tension on cab frames.
You could but I agree with the others, it maybe a bit too high. If its the same tension you string it on an isometric head, you should lower it so it would have the equvilant effective tension between the two different heads.
sorry i guess we really didn't answer your question, and the answer is probably not. i've had the cab 8600ti for a while now and the most i have strung was at 22x22. after stringing it, i noticed that the frame was warped considerably more so than other cabs i have: 21sp/30ms/35/50. and from the look of thinks i'm afraid that the cab8600ti will crack after a few hard shots at your tension or even just a slight mis-hit. of course i've never gone that high in my life, so this is just my projection.
Since the racquet will be cheaper, you can try at that tension knowing if the racquet breaks, the tension is unsuitable. The stringer may not be so confident which would be more of a factor.
That's just how i like it. My cab 20 was strung at 27lbs. I had a Yang Yang Tactic 8500 before and it was also strung at 27lbs although the the max tension noted was 20lbs. Never had any problems with it. The cab 8000 was rated for 24lbs max tension however... more than the older Japanese cabs. Just that I never owned any of the Taiwan made cabs before makes me wonder. Most of the time I always had to give my personal guarantee...
