No reason is given ..eventhough he ranks 40 something..I believe BWF still counts him a TOP Ten based on 6 month period since January...more likely he may pay withdrawal fee ( $5000)....too bad he withdrew ...

IMHO, by these withdrawals Lin Dan seems to plan his retirement. It's almost impossible for him to compete in any super series tournament without going through qualification. I don't think Lin Dan has willing to compete from qualification.

Never mind, I will still be watching live on Monday. I want to see Kento, never see him playing live.

I have not bought my ticket yet for Monday but I am sure Monday will not be full yet.

the one thing LCW got that LD has not (yet)..........a baby............
LD must be tired from trying hard......off-court.

LD will again miss Singapore's best chicken rice (located in queenstown).

Plenty of reasons why Lin the "God of Badminton" Dan choose to withdraw....you can take your pick from the followings:
    1. Weather too hot!

    2. Scared kena stomach-ache!

    3. Scared kena booed again if he choose to withdraw only later in the tourney (when facing fellow compatriots of course)!

    4. Giving Taufik and LCW a favor :p

    5. Never won those damned titles anyway, so, why bother going for another round.

    6. He's already the King of Withdrawals...so, adding another 2 tourneys this year will certainly solidify his position and he could even add another title to his God-like status - "God of Withdrawal" :)
Note to limsy - please update your statistics :p

You can add to this list if you want :p

where the withdrawal fee $5000 came from? so many withdrawals, each person has to pay $5000 to withdraw? Had any player paid before $5000 for his withdrawal?

I think $5000 only applies to top 8 seeds withdrawal without any reason. First LD is not top 8 seed, and he always withdraw with reasons.

Taufik did...LCW did...Saina did...Lin Dan did before...apply to top 10... I believe within 6 month...only apply for SS Premier.....if you don't want to pay the fine then you showed up for press conference...pi hong Yan did...Tine baun did...cai yun/ Fu did come to Jakarta and flew back next day.....so why you have doubt on penalty? It applies to everyone...not only to China ( I know what you are thinking)

Perhaps we shall wait until it becomes official (from BWF) that Lin really needs to pay the US$5k fine.

SINGAPORE: Two-time Olympic gold medallist Lin Dan has pulled out of the Li Ning Singapore Open due to injury. The tournament will be held later this month.

The 29-year-old from China hurt himself during the Badminton Asia Championship in April.

Singapore shuttler Ashton Chen will take the slot vacated by Lin at the Singapore tournament.
