    At this late stage we still have a few places unconfirmed;

    WS - Kaori IMABEPPU (JPN)
XD - Sang Joon LEE/So Young KIM (KOR), and
WD 3 pairs from Russia have invited for the last 2 places, since they already declined 3 other pairs with higher ranking its unlikely they will go as well.

Nobody seems to be bother too much about the womens doubles, wonder why?

    - first of all they are prizeless

    - having relatively slimmer chance to win ANY title within the WD discipline

this combo is a sure discouragement

BWF should seriously consider attaching quite a real sweetener to all the WC trophies in near future...

If it's such the case, we won't see the regrettable-yet-understandable decision by Juliane Schenk to drop off her WC participation.

C'mon, it's the 21st Century... like it or not nearly every aspect of mankind is monetized hard to believe how can BWF lag behind?

The trophies, the titles and bwf ranking points are the prizes.

Just that there is no money prize.

I think the main consideration is that they still have to pay ticket and accomodation, some may not have sponsors or country badminton association that will pay the bill.

I guess, in future BWF has to make their sponsors pay for all these, in this case Red Bull, Li Ning. Should get more sponsors if necessary, maybe tie up with major airlines and major hotel.

Sen, what you outlined here were the intangible prizes whereas i pointed to was the tangible one. In the case of player such as Juliane Schenk, she understandably prefer to collect the BWF points in a (major) tournament that also awards prize money. [After all the points awarded in WC won't be substantially bigger (1.5X, 2X) than the comparable tournament, right?]

Ticket and accomodation bills are just the partial consideration. All the efforts and resources poured in during one's preparation are not yet counted in. We simply think that any player should be able to capitalize any trophy (s)he may earn in WC, but the reality may not be that straight.

And neither every nat'l association is rich enough nor has such culture to award their WC trophy earner such material attribution, or similar appreciations being accomplished through the various local societies, which one may expect to see in some particular nations (only, wrt badminton), for example in MAS, INA, CHN, THA, etc...but for the rest??

If the host country or its sponsors will have to bear all the ticket & hotel bills of all participants, some consequences may arise:
    - less and less NOC will be able to stage the WC event due to the financial issues
    - an 'improved' revenue sharing may be requested by the host country, and will it be more advantageous to BWF eventually?

I think you interpreted me wrongly. I did not mean the host of WC or the sponsor for that WC need to pay. I meant, BWF recently got sponsorship deal such as this http://www.bwfbadminton.org/news_item.aspx?id=74125

They can try to get the deal for the players accommodation and maybe part of the flight tickets, not the host NOC who needs to get the sponsor.
