Default Anyone tried stringing with fishing line yet?

    http://www.amazon.com/Polyethylene-F...dp/B00APR3316/

I know Kwun is not shy of using strange material as I've seen the steel wire string job.

So have anyone tried fishing line? Some advantages I see:

    1. Way cheaper (300m for $16)
    2. Way stronger (the one above is rated for 100 lb)
    3. Way thinner (The one above is 0.55 mm, I'm sure there's even thinner)

Obviously no one use fishing line and it probably won't work but has anyone try to find out why? I can think of some disadvantage such as losing tension too quickly, doesn't stretch back or too slippery but those are all speculation. Maybe it's good enough.

Iirc Yonex started as a fishing line producer (or at least at some stage they produced fishing lines). I guess if it was any good they would know.

That's the theory but it would be interesting to hear if anyone has experience with it.

I'd need a throwaway racket, but I'm very, very tempted....

Somebody twist my arm - season's nearly over...

I wouldn't think they last long, because badminton strings have these outer coutings which are cross layered. If the fishing line doesn't have these cross-layered patterns I'm guessing you can wear through them like crazy.

Also, the 100lbs load rating, I'm not sure about the rating badmintonstrings would get.
I mean, they break at 50lbs in a stringing machine. But if they break at a grommet it's hard to compare the 100lbs rating done in a Universal testing bench.

Old thread revival I know. It could possibly be done just not sure of durability.
I would suggest that if you use one make sure to use flouro as it won't stretch like mono.
And they all have special coating for slickness and certain levels of durability.
And cost can't be beat even though flouro is more expensive than mono.

I'll have my stringer do a run on a cheapie back up racquet after I compare various test loads to say a zymax65 or 67
I'm thinking 20lb line to start
