anybody here want to talk about the shot that gets them the most points during games?? ironically, for me, it's my smash.... it isn't a particularly powerful or quick smash... but here's how i get tons of points from it.. (pointers for those who play me singles! ) the opponent serves to my forehand side, right to the corner, i back up, i keep half an eye on my opponent (lots of my opponents expect me to smash for some reason... not sure why... it's not like i'm a hard smasher...), i pretend to smash down the line and when they just start moving to cover that point, i change the direction of my wrist and end up smashing it cross court, since i've done it so many times, i can get it pretty much right on the line.... ironic, since my smash is uh... "sub-par"
when my opponent drops me and i have enough time to wait until the last minute to do whatever i want with the shot. i usually put it where they're not expecting me to.
My most useful shot, is when I setup for my smash, miss and hit the birdie with my frame... so instead of getting a smash, they get an orthodox drop Can't be too good for my racquet though...
My most useful shot(i like the most) is when my oppenents Clear it deep, and i wait till the last second to do a cross court Drop shot from the back with my forehand or Backhand, and it usally is pretty Close to the Net so its sometimes suprising
The serve is perhaps the most critical shot but the defence is the most useful. You could say the return is as critical as the serve because if you can play a winning return they never score. Your defence can be used on every point, in doubles your serve on evry fourth point on average. You can use a good defence against every type and standard of player, thats not to say you shouldn't attack , just that sometimes you can't. Someone can prevent you from attacking by taking the attack and then win the point with their attack, for the reason the smash, while important, is highly overated by most players.
You're right ok defensive block but then serve isn't a shot............ short serve, flick serve , high serve, drive serve
hey, cheung and mag beat me to it too. It's the serve, it sets the tempo of the rally. Got lots of cheap points out of it too
I would say the flat drive to the body. If it doesn't force an error, the return is usually something that can be put away.
Round the head x-court fast drop. Most opponents I faced seem to always anticipate either a stright drop or a clear. Smash??? out of question...too old to generate power!!!
