Hi I cannot ever recall that I have ever seen one reference to a scientific paper within all the materials, books and threads in forums I have been through. So I was starting to wondering whether science in badminton is unpopular. That is sad, so lets do something about it. I don't claim that science always is the best, I do prefer a balance between experiences from professionals and serious science. Please in this thread dont start discussing, why that is and what you think about science and what it is, we can do that in another thread. In this thread please only post if you would like to post a good scientific paper that you have read. If you want to discuss an issue from a scientific paper in details, please make a new thread or take the paper to an existing thread on the subject. So the point of this thread is to collect and make an overview of science in badminton. Please post the link or title etc. and a few comments on why you recommend it. I would like to stick to the technical and tactic badminton issues, and not like nutrition or injuries etc., of course there can be a link between badminton and injuries, so if the focus is on the badminton technique, that should be okay too! Lets get some science in here
I agree that properly conducted studies are good. I reviewed a proposal for a stretching technique in improving badminton players performance. The methodology was full of holes. Some of the problems were lack randomisation, allocation concealment, no power analysis etc. Sent the author to look up some reference on research methodology. Next thing I know, the study had been done. I didn't review it otherwise I would have been dragged into much work.
