The history and tradition have all seem lost and forgotten in the last decade or so. Indonesian badminton seem to be buried and died in the sand desert. The last legend has also hang his racket. And the very few remaining warriors have come to their age. So the question lingers........what's in the future? I found some tables from an Indonesian site showing players from Indonesia on both senior and junior level top the table. You guys can have a discussion on that. I can only add that me personally seen (at last) a significant increase in the badminton activities on the ground level. Local tournaments are popping up everywhere, packed badminton halls. Even in a small town with population around 250K, there are more than 2 dozens halls which open every nites full of players. Clubs buying up their own halls and send their juniors to compete on provincial levels. Badminton ads on TV are more frequent than ever, led by conglomerate giant of Djarum group and their auditions entry. An effort to bring in talents across islands of Indonesia to one sacred training facility at town of Kudus. So many people over in Indonesia predict that the question of reclaiming their glory is not a question of if......its just a matter of time......what do you say??
only top 100 ? how about top 10 ?? hehe there aresome good signs actually. Our U-20 start to get good results in IC level. For example, Riyanto (Winner Iran IC 2013), Wisnu (Winner Malaysia IC 2012), Fikri (Winner Maldives IC 2013), Jonathan Cristie (Winner of Indonesia IC 2013 at the age of 15 yo (!!!)), Hanna Ramadhini (Winner of Vietnam IC 2013 and runner up Maldives IC 2013), Dinar dyah (Winner INA IC 2013) and many others in doubles sector. but still, it's only Challenge level. they need to move the level up soon. i think, it is still takes time for the juniors to be in the elite level. meanwhile we still have some rising players in the elite top of the world. Hendra/Ahsan and Owi/Butet are still among the top pairs. Our MS showed good progress. Tommy just won the SIN SS and we got 2 MS in SF INA PSS. WS also encouraging as Lindaweni is currently eyeing a spot in the Top 10 and consistently pushed the top 10 players to the limit when they meet up each others. New pair, Greysia/Nitya also seems very encouraging, it can be seen that they have a good potential to be one of the top 5 WD. this year is too early to judge the improvement of INA. next year is a good year to see if INA is really waking up !
