It's time to start a thread for this uprising young star. He may not be as famous nor as consistent a player as his rival team mate Soong Joo Ven but he finally broke through as a force to be reckon with in his age group by winning the 2013 Asia junior championship. Past notable winners to dominate the world were superstars like ChenHong, LinDan, ChenJin, ChenLong, KenichiTago etc. We hope to see the same for Soo Teck Zhi(STZ) I first get to know of this player about 3 years ago when I started badminton. He was just 15 but his height, speed and power was way above his age. I was amazed by this kid with what he could do on court and just a stroke of luck, I was playing next to his court while he was doing his drills. We were one player short to play doubles and we managed to invite him over for some fun games. We ended up playing 3 against him and lost the match mostly losing points while sprawling on the floor. Fast forward a few weeks later, he won the national junior circuit for age U16. And since then I have been following STZ on hs progress and cheering him on when I get to see him play live. Some notable facts are: - he is the only the 2nd Malaysian player ever to win the Asia junior MS championship title since its inception - he is the only BAM player ever to win the Asia junior MS championship title since its inception - he is the only Malaysian player to have won the Asia junior MS championship, Asian school MS championship & ASEAN school MS championship. In short he is so far the most successful junior in MS BAM has ever produced. Keep up the good work STZ! The WORLD awaits your becoming....
