Something to cheer about for Singapore when Ashton managed to dispose of top seed Sakai of Japan. Keep up the excellent job Ashton!

Maneepong/Sapsiree are beginning to look very dangerous!

Christin Tsai along with partner Yi Tai of China, is into the QF in womens doubles. Good for her!

Toby's stopped in his tracks in MD. By his brother!

Michelle Li bowed out ot Yui Hashimoto 21-23, 8-21, but,

    Sad news for madbad:

But what does this mean? Is Sapsiree injured?

Malvinne's outing at the Canada Open ends, but hopefully she will keep improving.

    From yesterday:

In Ashton Chen's match against Kazumasa Sakai he was down in the second game before winning 11 of the next 12 points to seal the victory. Wonder if he did any of his patented 'splits' in the match.
    ___________

Beatriz Corrales put up very respectable scores against Kusunose in three games. But it is the Japanese who moves on to play .... yup, another Japanese, Ayumi Mine.
    ______

Sapsiree retired from her WS match yesterday. But so far she is still in the schedule for her XD today. Is she injured? Maybe I'll have to airmail her some 'lobster therapy'.

    QF day update.

...and despite her injury, Sapsiree combined very nicely with Maneepong for the quarter-finals in the XD

The surprise came at the beginning of the day...

and YipPY took out Kaori Imabeppu in what looks like surprisingly easy games.

    HH cruises into the semis

and Misbun Ramadan fights it out

and Carolina wins what should have been a closer match easily enough

Not bad for Misbun ramdan, he definately need a good result to give a break through to the malaysian badminton. meanwhile tan chun seang also need a breakthrough after losing his momentum last year. let see what they can do....

The unseeded Yuka Kusunose progressed into last four, will she cruise into finale once again? She will meet the agressive style Yip Pui Yin next, interesting to wait

And the defending MD champions as well as the US Open winners will not be able to defend their title as they fall to Ruud Bosch/Koen Ridder 9-21, 13-21

The Netherlands doubles teams have done very well in this tournament!

We're getting down to the short strokes now; and its going to be a more mental thing. There's a chance we might see the two Thai MD teams in the finals -if that happens it will pitch former partners against each other!

Carolina Marin could well script an upset tomorrow against the #1 seed Nitchaon Jindapol. And another big draw will be Misbun Ramadan's match against Eric Pang.

Meanwhile, the #1 WD pair of Wang/Zhang from Macau have serenely made their way into the semis...

But for my money, the following matches will provide the spice.

Wee Henri is in the Semis! It's his best results in a long time and might be his best since the EC!

Saw him play in the US and he didn't looked that comfortable against Boonsana, missed the ending but heard he lost by serving into the net... Hopefully he can reach the final and maybe even win the title this time! Heja Henri!!
