Okay so one day my friends decided to perform a trick on me. So I was sitting on the stage and two of my friends came grabed my legs and threw me onto the ground.-. My right ankle was under my leg and it was in a wrong position so I landed on that position and it was twisted I couldn't walk. I need crutches. It's been almost a year now I'm just paranoid because like a few months after it got healed I started playing again. My friend faked a smash and put it as a drop shot so I ran forward to the net and as I was reaching it with my racquet I tripped and twisted my ankle again but I could walk, there was a slight pain for a few minutes while I was running on the court, but after a few runs it relieved. I'm quite paranoid now should I try playing again without a ankle brace or should I keep one on?
For me the best thing to do recovering from an ankle injury is to do strengthening exercises. I used to roll my ankle quite often even by just normal walking. But after doing strengthening exercises, it rarely happens anymore.
Like can my ankle ever return to its original state as it is before I never twisted it In the first place
That's a pretty complicated question to which probably only a doctor or specialist is qualified to answer. But my opinion is, it won't. As in, it won't get back to its original state as a broken vase can't be repaired to its original state, unless someone has invented time travel. Even then, maybe. But in terms of restoring functionality, it depends. On the degree of damage, whether there was any tear or any structural damage. But for me, a minor sprain will heal and with the strengthening exercise will get stronger and reduce the likeliness of future injury. But be prepared to wait some time before full recovery and increase of strength. How long? It depends of course.
Lesson learned, don't volunteer your body for "tricks" by your friends =p. In all seriousness though, ankle braces are phenomenal for preventing future sprains and minimizing the damage done even if you do sprain though. Seeing a doctor is the best answer you can get though, as with any physical injury especially since this has lasted so long. I sprained my ankle pretty badly about 3 years ago. I still feel some soreness there after a hard session to this day. Just some perspective about sprained ankles if it's bad enough.
I never volunteered they randomly dragged me off .-. I'm no longer friends with them anyways so I'm glad, I see :0000 I don't think it was really a sprain though I twisted it pretty badly the bone swelled up and turned purple but it's fine now I'll be doing exercises and using my ankle brace thank you
