LYD along with Kim Ki Jung had failed to report their whereabouts and missed tests for doping.
The Korean national team had let the BWF know of their whereabouts thus the result is apparently one year and not two years suspension. Doesn't say anything about doping though.

wow... isnt that a tad harsh... 1 yr suspension for missing 3 tests...

it's not as if he got into an on court melee with his partner or anything...

    this is very serious...

But missing tests also raises suspicion if you ask me. I love LYD, don't get me wrong, but the natural question would be why they weren't present for the tests.

*Edit: Apparently, at the press conference it has been confirmed of a one year suspension but that they hadn't taking substances.

*Edit 2: It wasn't like they were avoiding the tests on purpose. The WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) just happened to be doing the tests in Korea while the players were playing tournaments. Apparently the Korean Badminton Asoc. is the one to be blamed for handling all this badly and it should not be the players faults. They are going to make an appeal.

*Edit 3: The months in question when the WADA was performing these tests were March, September and November. In other words, LYD and KKJ might have been at All England (March) China Masters and Japan Open in September and China Open and Hong Kong Open in November.

well, i suppose even if they did take ped's they wouldn't admit it now...

the question then is why did lyd and kkj and bka allow themselves to miss 3 tests and get themselves into this horrible situation...

i really really hope it was all a simple administrative error in not filling in his location and that this can be appealed to some degree... 1 year is a significant length of time for not even a positive test...

Sad news for all Lee YD fans and KOR badminton as well as he is always dependable to win title in every tournament.
Banned period : 23 January 2014-23 January 2015, it means he will miss some major events :
    - All England 2014
    - Thomas Cup 2014
    - World Championships 2014
    - Incheon Asian Games 2014

Wonder if CBA report LD's whereabouts?

I doubt so very much .

Players like KKK or maybe even LCW dont need to be reported for their whereaboutsgiven that they are regularly sighted with their flashy cars at flashy night clubs

Remember the Rio Ferdinand saga prior to Euro 2004? He missed one drugs test... boom, 8 months suspension.
