You may have played like crap last night, but you can rejoice in that you are resilient enough to have gotten over it in 5 minutes (plus the time it took you to make and post that graphic ).

It's a fact of life for me, because 95% of the time my top game is out of my reach. :p

"playing like crap" is of course a very individual thing.

when i "play like crap", most beginners would think "damn, this guy is good", while lin dan would think "complete crap" even when i play my very best...

    @topic:
when i play really shitty, i try to switch to a safe game and try to reach some kind of average level. sometimes the best level is just out of reach, but you can usually settle to some average level if you concentrate and kind of start from zero after a short break...

There are times when I do play like crap. :p (Usually when tired after a long day's work, or lack of sleep, or lack of recovery time between baddy nights.)

When that happens, I make the most of it by learning why I'm playing like that (so that it likely won't happen again) and take comfort in knowing that I can only get better the next time I play. :)

    Aight

i was analyzing (as I always do, presumably just like most of you all) why i played so badly & I too came to the conclusion that I was simply tired.

My 'A game' (emphasis on my ;)) I can only bring when I have enough energy, & this was a weeknight during busy busy times at the office....

Nice to read that most of you keep positive =]

I find I play my best when the game is fast and furious. If it is slow, I lose concentration and my eyes wander around.

Also I find I play better doubles when I have some confidence in my partner. For example if I know they won't be trying to do stupid trick shot returns to the net which ends up being killed easily. Good defence helps immensely.

For singles, it is totally mental for me.

today exactly happened as per thread title.
no matter wad i did, safe shots etc.
basically, it was a nitemare, even my partner was telling me that i was way way below par....
so i guess its self reflection time and to improve the nex time round...

so I got a friend who played really really crap in so many games.
and his reaction? he drops the racket, swinging the racket randomly, swearing in Indonesian language (or it is not swearing, but more of shouting some random words)
he played so crap that he only return 2 out of 20 shots to him. failed to return a serve, failed to return a smash, even failed to return a clear (tried to smash the shuttle with very good pose and missed it then he throws the racket and like saying, f*ck this, I quit lol..)

I am aweful. My head completely goes hen I play badly. I don't mind losing, as long as I play well... It's taken me a long time to start getting a handle on this! Now, I try to focus the aggression into my play...

in singles i try to play safe shots (a lot of clears..drops and netshots with more margin etc.)

i find it very hard to overcome bad stretches in doubles because its much faster and hard to get into rhythm..

i try to concentrate and focus more

I always play my best when I've had a couple of games warm-up; so when I'm thrown straight into a game, I'm terrible. I almost always get to my best when the session ends :fp
