    Default Recovery after shots

    Hi BC.

Was hoping someone could help me with this question. I play mixed and mens doubles and wanted to know about recovery techniques and feet positioning.

If you are at the back when do you try to recover back to the centre line and when do recover straight away ready for the split step?

Lol but his second paragraph makes sense only for singles.

Wouldn't it depend upon the shot played and the anticipated returns of the opponent? Can't be more specific without a given scenario.

Not necessarily. If you're outwide and play down the middle you wouldnt stay out wide.

doesn't help that the second para doesn't make sense anyway

You always recover straight away - what is the point in waiting?

To try and answer the question I think you're trying to ask... If you are under a bit of pressure and have high lateral velocity (away from court centre) and/or when taking the shuttle in a deep corner, your partner should be more aware and more biased to covering x-c replies since he is the only one that can return them. In this case you would not necessarily try to recover to centre line since you would have to cover more straight/block returns than normal
