Empty your tube. Stack your birds in 6 groups of 2.
Take a spray bottle of room temp water and mist the inside of the tube with visible droplets of water running through the barrel. Push the tube back onto the pairs until you filled the tube back up.

Use saran wrap and fold into a square. Push square of saran wrap over each tube cover and mist each end and place back onto tube for an airtight seal. Water will HYDRATE the shuttle. Why use steam?

Your method is too complicated for me. I just open the ends of a tube and stick it over the steam rising from the vent of the rice cooker for 10 secs each end, close it for 2 days before game night and voila birds that will last a whole game each and yet feel crisp on hitting. :D

visor- @ visor- I am looking for every edge in equipment over my enemies: Which rice do you find provides the optimum steam for your shuttlecocks? Which rice does Lin Dan use? ;-)

The one that produces the best hot air of course. I was using Chinese rice all this while but since recently switching to the Malaysian rice that BAM uses, I've been getting great results. ;)

Seriously? I hope you guys are joking. Rice just doesn't matter!

It's the dish you steam on top of the rice that provides the flavor (refreshes your mood during game) and texture (gives better feel to serve/net/touch) on the birds!
Gee I didn't know I have to point out the obvious.

I can't make out the manufacturer of the steamer from your picture. Can you identify the steamer/humidifier and where you bought it for us fellow Canadians? Thanks

Just go to any pharmacy or drug store and look for a "cool mist humidifier" ... nothing special about it...

But the mister shown is designed specifically to fit shuttle tubes. I was very tempted to order one from a Chinese website last year. But I can't read a word of Chinese, so couldn't understand the site.

Perhaps a clever shop owner sells them in Canada? (or we should ask Eric from RKEP to start selling them).

Just move somewhere more humid. The humidity where I am is 70%, and it's March. During December it's like 90, same with July.
