    Hello,

Please help: Where to buy Yamaha Home Theater System in Singapore? From I heard, Yamaha is good.

Let me know also which other home theater systems that you recommend?

    Thanks.

Have you tried Apollo Centre (opposite Funan).

I don't know your budget but they have everything from high to low end hi-fi, and home cinema shops in there.

One I have bought from is KEC. They are on the ground floor of Apollo. The manager there is a tall, thin Chinese guy (Great! That covers 40+ percent of the Chinese population there!) whose name eludes me. He's helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Qualities which are sometimes found wanting in Singapore sales personnel.

Anyway, give them a whirl and see what they recommend.

    Have A Yamaha...

Have a RXV430-RDS Receiver, does all the nifty Home-Theater thins except DTSe ..

the movies 5.1 (DTS) run fab.

but although tech specs say my (think it's NS100..) speakers are 110 for satelite, I find am bit low on power..
Not on TV-scene, that's ok, but playing audio-cd's... in 5ch stereo the feel weak as
it seems the low freq. (BASS) seems to be passing through the satelites also on some CD's ... Prologic II for music.. is over-rated my opinon.. adn i must admit
I expecte more on the Prologic II over Nicam stereo..

What does seem fab is the RockConcert pgm on any live performance in Nicam Stereo... my fav !!!!!

Still need to try to put in two bigg 3-way speaker iso front L+R satelites.. might make
big diff in plaing audio-cd's ..

But, still find worth the money for this mid-level set..

Does anyone know a store called Paris Silk Store in Singapore? Please give the phone number and address. I heard that they sell reasonable price for electronics.

Isn't it in the phonebook? If not, then you probably got the name wrong.

    Preman,

This is the place you are looking for - http://www.parisilk.com/location.html

I bought my TV from them and, they are as good and as reputable as people were telling me.

You can haggle a bit and, for large items, get free delivery in Singapore.

Tcstay - Sim Lim has some good shops but there are plenty of bad ones.
One in particular, which made my blood boil, was Audio House. Avoid them at all costs if you value your sanity. There is a short, fat and balding old guy there who quotes very low prices but before you can even see the goods will insist you buy the goods first!!! He is still there today. Salesmen like him do Singapore a disservice and drive away the tourist trade.

Sometimes I think Singapore retailers have so much to learn from Hong Kong about customer service. Yes, HONG KONG!! Think about the experience of shopping in HK during the 80's and the experience today. A world apart!!

More power to Parisilk, KEC, and the christian camera shop on the 1st floor of Funan. They all offer service excellence, with market leading prices.

    OK - rant over! :D

    Hey Preman,

I just realised that you are the OP.

I also realised :)rolleyes:) I made my booboo in my first post. KEC is in Adelphi building and they do sell Yamaha AV systems. If it is not too busy you can ask to audition stuff too.

    I guess I need a recommended optician now :D
