Dear all, what type of racket would give me an edge at clearing from the rear court? Would a racket with a stiffer shaft be better?
Pls share. Thanks!
If you have the right technique you can clear with every racket and every tension and every shuttle back to back. If you can't clear backt to back it's your technique. No racket will help or support. Spend your money on coach lessons or join a club.
Stiffness depends on how you swing. Maybe a flex racket will suit you better or a stiff one. But if you have problems with clearing back to back, don't buy a racket. Work on your technique.
if everything else is constant, then a racket with a flexible shaft will make it easier to get the shuttle from one end to another.
Moderator, could you make this answer as a mandatory read before any member asking for help in choosing racket This is one of the basic every player should know but sadly a great number of players still don't understand or choose to ignore.
yy mp10 head light and flex - no power and cant clear.
Yy ns990 head heavy and extra stiff. - need to push little hard for clear.
Yy ti10 even balance and stiff - same as ns990.
Yy vt70 head heavy and mid - little bit better than ns990 for clear.
Yy vt80 head heavy and stiff - much better than vt70 and effordless.
Apac lethal 12 even balance and flex. - same as ti10.
So, hi end racket may help for clear ... is that answer you..
Well no matter what racket you use, if your arm strength is not good enough, it still won't work.
arm strength is one aspect.
there are some people i know, just from a wrist snap is able to send the shuttle from base to base with a nice loud "pop" sound(ignoring the fact that they have been playing for decades though)
it still boils down the combination of one's wrist/forearm strength, and one's ability to generate fast arm swings.
if one has a weaker forearm, wrist, then most of the power generation comes from the fast arm swing, a flexible racquet will bend during the swing and allow for a good transfer of power. giving this person an extra stiff racquet will cause problems as there's still a limit to how fast most people can swing.
If you include human in this discussion, there will be no ending or conclusion. Same racket, different persons, different results, parameters must be spell out before any meaningful discussion can be conduct.
