    As the countdown to Jakarta continues, I am keeping track of the race for Thomas Cup Finals by posting its 3rd edition “dummy” qualifying list.

    This list shows who would qualify for the Thomas Cup Finals from 7-16 May, and how will draw be done.

    According to each team's potential to the finals, I choose 12 teams from 5 continents as follows:

    Africa: South Africa;

    Asia: China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malyasia and Thailand;

    Pan-America: Canada;

    Eroupe: Denmark, Germany and Sweden;

    Oceania: Australia.

    For each association represented on the Individual World Ranking list by Jan. 22, 2004, the 3 highest ranked singles players and 2 highest ranked doubles players are considered.Even if a country only has two World Ranked player, the team is still ranked.

    A full round-robin between all such teams is then "simulated" by the computer, using the Thomas Cup system, and with the players listed in ranking order in each team. The result of this complete round-robin simulation provides the final Ranking order of the teams.

    For the seeding list for the 2004 Thomas & Uber Cups Finals only players eligible to represent their association will be taken into consideration. The May 1st 2004 Ranking list will be used to produce the seeding list.

    The draw should be done by Team ranking with "snake" way first, and then start competition according to the newest regulation of Thomas & Uber Cups.

    All is not lost for those teams who are not currently included in. And after all the continental Qualification shall be decisive.

    Any fan can continue on the road to Jakarta with an updated “dummy” qualifying list once per week by yourself to 30 April 2004.

    Looking at the team draw, with INA and MAS piled into B, the 2 little brothers in A as CAN and THA have to fight hard to get the A2. Because, the one with A3 will have to face either INA or MAS (most likely) as B2, and there's no way to survive.
