so by accident, i found a new way to train badminton muscles. and it has a very practical use too..

    the story goes...

the other day, i into work and noticed that i got a flat tire, must have hit a nail or something. so at the end of the day, took out the flat and swapped in my spare. well, the spare has been sitting there for well, like 5 years since i last pumped it. the spare was flat also! so i have one tired with a hole, and other one with no pressure inside.

so today i brought my bike pump to my work place and proceed to pump up the spare. golly, it was tough work! i already jacked up the car so the car's weight isn't sitting on the tire, but after around 10 mins of pumping, my arm was sore. esp the triceps, which makes a lot of sense if you think about the action.

but the badminton fanatic in me says, "wow, this is cool, i am working out my triceps.."

at the end, i could really really feel my triceps burning.

so next time, you feel bored and need a badminton workout for free (no gym cost), just go down to your car, release the tire pressure, then pump it up again with a bicycle pump, do that for a few months, you will be surprised the amount of muscles you gain.

and hey, if it doesn't work, at least you will know that your tire pressure is always right...

    ;)

Kwun, if you want, i can release the air in your tire everyonce in a while. It'll help out your badminton game right? :)

burning = overtraining = net loss of muscle = net loss of strength = poor workout choice

    kind of true

yeah.. kind of true .. overtraining could lead to over exhaustion :p

lol .. using bicycle pump on a car tyre :D i bet it takes a long time too...
which is very tiring (for me in this case :p cuz nvr pumped tyres b4 !!)

but anyways its another muscle training way which is worth a try :D

i don't think so. getting a burning sensation is very common. anybody sitting on a bike doing any moderate workout will get a burning sensation. if merely burning is overtraining, then it will be very difficult not to overtrain.

    Hi kwun,

I had this same kind of exercise as u did last week as well..
but it happened under another situation..
We were preparing a birthday party for my friend.
We rent a room in the hotel, and try to fill the room up with balloons!!!!
instead of blowing up 200 balloons (that would definately cause a sore mouth),
i brought myself a bicycle pump like urs. I also find it very tiring after bumped 20+ balloons. And at that time i also had the same thought like urs, a good excecise for badminton. :D

happened again to me today. when i got off work, the right rear tire is pretty low but not completely flat. came home and pumped it up to spec. at one point, the pump heated up so much the valve stopped working! now i am all sore on the tricep and heading off to training...

i just came across this thread - if that ever happens again, try putting the pump at the back of you, hold both hands and start pumping.

what do you get? i think your imagination will tell you.. an almost complete upper body training!

it will even up better if you squat a bit..

and just make sure nobody's around, my friend!
