    Hi guys,

If I live in Australia and want to buy stuff from UK, do I have to pay VAT?

    Cheers,

Have a look on the inland revenue website or direct gov websites for more info.

My guess would be that you shouldn't have to pay VAT if you're not a UK resident. Not sure if there is an equivalent tax in Oz... you may have to pay import tax though.

A lot of tourists who come to the UK can came back VAT for their purchases, so I guess it should work for importing goods.

If buying online and out of UK or EU you are exempt from VAT.
If you are visiting the country and buy goods before going home you can file and claim back the VAT you paid while on vacation.

That's what I thought. I think the lady didn't check where I was located when answering my question. But since then has cleared it up.

Thanks for the reply guys. :)
