I'm going through badminton deprivation. I'm down to only 1 hour a week of play because the Gym I go to is closing down for the summer (I know its not quite summer yet) and will no longer have regular 4 hours of badminton per week. My racquet is newly strung and I just got new shuttles but no where to play. For the next few weeks I will be looking for new places to play but most of the other places around me (Toronto) don't have summer badminton. Wish me luck!!!
my condolence, really. why not try to find a community hall to rent out with a bunch of badminton friend. Summer rental rates should be cheaper too.
There are plenty of place in TO for badminton in the summer. I know U of T has some summer hours. Maybe you should look into that. There are many recreational places that have badminton too, more likely on Sunday for the good chunk of the morning.
Your backyard is sufficient enough sometimes. That was where I fell in love with badminton "at first strike".
BaMBaM, this sentence really touch my heart: "My racquet is newly strung and I just got new shuttles but no where to play." i hope you managed to find a gym to play in. anyone else from Toronto want to help out our fellow badminton addict?
Yeah, outdoor playing will hone your reactions... Remember that the legendary Rudy Hartono always said that he learned badminton outdoors, and having to compensate for weather and wind is what made him such a good player indoors...
I live in toronto too and i'm in the same situation as bambam, i dun have anywhere to play except on sunday at a church but thatz only like 2 hours and that does nothing to improve my skills or even enough time for me to be warmed up and on the game since we have to rotate every 15 mins. I need some place where i can seriously play for hours or a club where i can learn to play well and coaching too. I still have much impovement need even on my basic skills....need a place!!

Re: Badminton Deprivation - Clubs to play in Toron Thanks but I've already tried some of those numbers and they don't have a summer session.
Re: Badminton Deprivation - Clubs to play in Toron Wow Don, that's a lot of badminton clubs in the greater metropolitan Toronto area. I doubt there are that many places to play badminton in any American city, including N.Y., L.A., and Chicago. I'm thinking our Northern Neighbors don't have quite as much of bad situation to complain about anymore.
Re: Badminton Deprivation - Clubs to play in Toron I know that there's this place that offers badminton from 8 am to 3 pm every Sunday. Pretty nice place. It's a walk in place. I'll post the place's name when it comes to mind.
Re: Badminton Deprivation - Clubs to play in Toron Badminton is big in Ontario. I've kid around with my friends that I have pretty much a place to play in, at almost every city in Ontario. Since I travel quite a bit, I usually bring my gear and play a few games on the occasional business trip.
Re: Badminton Deprivation - Clubs to play in Toron what does BC stand for? and i think i only qualify for the junor ones since i'm still in high school and a not so experienced player yet, but thz
Re: Badminton Deprivation - Clubs to play in Toron For anyone who looking for badminton place at summer , u can contact this number (905) 814 5503 Handy or (416) 665 4777 Mr Hans. The place is located at petrolia (near york university) i forgot exactly but u can ask 2 person above, and they have cheaper price too saturday and monday evening
Really thats quite an interesting fact. i honed my skills outdoors, and now that i'm playing indoors at a club, things are coming more smoothly and naturally than normal i think. btw, i looked for halls to rent out, but warehouses i've checked out don't seem to have enough space. i was thinking of convincing my school to start a badminton club, and we could use their gym. what do you think of the idea? badmintons not yet so popular where i live in the states though.
