Do you guys know what is the best shuttlecock sold here in Singapore? Because I can't find a good one. When I was Indonesia I usually used Gajahmada or Garuda shuttlecocks, which is really nice to play with. I wonder if they also have these brands here in Singapore. I prefer a fast shuttlecock, (not too fast though)..
I used Garuda as well when i was in Indonesia, i used the yellow tube. I like the rounded feathers at the bottom. Anyway, a good shuttle to use here i would say is the Yonex AR-10, its cheap as well as durable. It has good flight as well. I'm getting some AR-30s soon, i hope they will be a big improvement from the AR-10
My favourites are: 1) Yonex AS 40 Speed 2 S$ 22 2) Space Arrow Silver Speed 76 S$ 20 3) ProAce 75 S$ 22 Sometime you may run into a bad batch problem, the shuttle breaks easily. What I do is buy a tube, if it is good, grab the rest from the same batch/shipment. The shop is Ranking Sports in Bras Basah Road. KC
if u want to use gajah mada, get a green one.6 in a tube...i think u cannot get it in singapore.it is more durabe than the red one..
ya i have that 1 the 1 with "extra durable" i'm in sin my dad comes often so he brings 3-4 tubes for me. i prefer it better than yonex AS-10's and so much cheaper(1/2 price)
Victor Champion shuttles IMO are really very good. But it's not as durable as Yonex AS-30 or AS-40. AS-30 is good as well but if u want the shuttle to be faster, get AS-40. I've tried AS-50 before but it's a little too fast. I also tried Charlton's AG-10 and I must say they're very good as well! Anyway, the shuttles I recommend are: Yonex AS-30 Yonex AS-40 Victor Champion Carlton's AG-10 Yang Yang Tatic 300B Don't get Ashaway, it sucks!!
Re: Re: Best shuttlecock I liked AS-30 too. Can somebody advise how much a tube of the above costs at Bras Brasah complex? Thks.
The best shuttlecock has to be Yonex AS-5, but its hell of expensive, like S$27 per tube. My heart aches everytime i smash and a feather drops off.
I hate to say, but Yonex family of shuttlecocks are still the best. They are a bit pricey but they last longer. Even if they're so in bad condition after a game, they're still pretty much eligible to be used for warm up strokes. I've used several Indonesian shuttles and some of them are approved by IBF to be used for international tournaments. I still think "Gajah Mada" is the best among all and yes it is also, the most expensive one if compared to the rest. In the old IBF website (www.intbadfed.org), approved equipment suppliers were listed and there were two brands from Indonesia that I could remember: 'Garuda' and 'Gajah Mada'. You can get 'Garuda' cheaper, but the quality is still under Gajah Mada, it doesn't last longer. Gajah Mada is pretty fast though. No, you can't find this brand yet in Singapore. I've been told Bras Basah is a good place to get cheap shuttlecocks. But all this time I've been getting good deals from stores at Queensway Shopping Center. Buying a box of shuttles will get me about $5 dollars off per tube--for non-Yonex brand (they aren't giving discounts on Yonex, no matter how many tubes you buy). The funny thing is, I couldn't find Yonex shuttles in Indonesia too!!!! Aki
What brand did you buy at Queensway shopping centre? How much is it? And could you recommend some shops? I'm starting to get hooked to this sport already...
Budi, I also played with Gajahmana or Garuda when I was in Jakarta. But since I moved to Belgium, I have never got a chance to play with these shuttles. Actually, I am looking for a contact with these producers. Can you tell me how can I make contact with Gajamada, Garuda and Incock ? If you have the address or e-mail address of these producers, please let me know. Regards,
Could we have another sticky? Check the date of the first posting if you are going to ask that poster questions, especially if they aren't members anymore
I can't remember the store name, but I think it was "Ashaway". Wasn't the greatest, I remember this brand was once an official equipment for Malaysian Open last year. Aki
Don't know if it's sold in S'pore but I feel the RSL Tourney Classic is right up there with the best.
I never tried Aeroplane Green, I think I need to pick-up a few tubes. MMOA Super Select is good to very good, Ultra Select is even better. Same goes for RSL Tourney # 1; it's good to very good, Tourney Classic excellent.
Some input from me.. ..i've purchased the Indocock shuttlecocks before. Both the black and brown tube. I purchased them first when i was in Surabaya, 2 yrs ago, as i believe it's a pretty new brand. But i believe they have them sold all over Java(ie. Jakarta, Malang etc.). Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe they are a Surabaya-based brand. Quality is decent, not the best. As for Gajahmada brand, they have 2 kinds. Red and Green one. The best one is the 6 pieces in a tube(green one). They play really nice here in the U.S(Halim Haryanto also plays with it here). I have also played with Garuda before, but it's been a long time. Unfortunately, i don't have any of their contact infos.
I am not sure Aeroplane Green is that good. Its OK, but their Black and Red labels are really good. If you haven't tried them, they are worth trying.
I don't think MMOA Ultra Select is available here in Manila but being the higher grade of Super Select, that's logical. The same goes to Aeroplane Black and Red, being the higher grade shuttles of Aeroplane Green. Super Select, Aero Geen and Tourney #1 are excellent choices for me as they are IBF-approved shuttles that are NOT that heavy on pocket. We also have to consider how these shuttles are stored, both before its sale and during its use. If exposed to extreme heat, their flight won't be that good anymore.
