The qualifying round is already started, 09.30am local time, using 4 courts. China swept all 5 titles last year, this time they also bring full squad.

After last week absence, world #1 Lee Chong Wei takes part here and badminton fans expect him and defending champion Chen Long to clash once again in finale.

Two strong mixed doubles pairs miss this tourney, Fischer/Pedersen and reigning World Champion Ahmad/Natsir, barring any upset two CHN pairs are predicted to meet each other in last round.

Lee Chong Wei's back in game means his compatriot Chong Wei Feng has to face him in Round 16 if they make it round 32...

You guys having a whale of a time at **** Long's expense. I'm sure he doesn't mind, otherwise he would have changed his name long ago.:D:p Too bad, his badminton fails to live up to his name, not that there's any correlation.:)

Pretty surprise that Son Wan Ho lost to local MS, Ng Ka Long 19-21 / 11-21. While another KOR MS, Lee Dong Keun also eliminated by home shuttler, Wei Nan 20-22 / 9-21.

Well, the other Long from HK, i.e. Ng Ka, is able to deny his opponent, the more fancied Son Wan Ho, a place in the Main Draw. So too, Wei Nan, eliminating another strong Korean qualifier, Lee Dong Keun.

Of late, more often than not, HK MS are able to create surprises every now and then. If I'm not wrong, Chen Gang, who used to coach TPE for many years (at least a decade I think), is now coaching HK for several months already (wonder if that makes a difference). CMIIW.

As usual, Derek Wong is always wanting to bring the shuttle down at every opportunity. I feel he's got to tighten his game, time his attack better and strengthen his defense; his accuracy and overall consistency is not up to par.
