    seriously?

it is that time of the year again? already? so quick?

every year, around December is when I go to the BWF website, comb through the events calendar of the next year, and then one by one copy each of the event and arrange them into new forums. This must have been the 10th, 11th, 12th year i am doing this? every year i go through the process, i get a little emo over it. another year has come and gone, another year older.

time fly so quickly and it is already 2014.

well all the new forums have been populated. enjoy. :)

ThE new host of SS final will be announced, same place from 2014-17, it is better for me not to spoil that place...Bangkok lost that bid..that's why prize money is $1 million

BWF is usually pretty good with grouping the tournaments together to ease travelling of players. this not only help out the players in terms of jetlag, but also help the tournament participation.

however, this year there are a few outliers that seems to be just not fitting into that scheme.

Taipei GPG in the middle of July - i think they are pretty safe as the core concentration of players in Asia are just a couple hours' flight away. probably good to keep the muscles warm for the World Championship

Brazil GP - scheduled at the dead slot before the World Championship, and all the way in South America. I am guessing they are doing this as one of the practice for the Olympics. I don't expect many players other than ones from the America continents will attend.

Scottish Open GP - schedule to be in the same time slot as Hong Kong Open which also neighbors the China Open. I expect most top players, Asian, European and others will be in HK/China. not sure who else will choose to go to Scotland for this?

$50000 used to be Grand Prix category event.

perhaps we should spend more time following the International Challenge events. they may become more interesting.
