What a sad day for me. Played few games yesterday. I had my Gosen 3500 strung twice.. strung it at tension 27main 29cross. What happened was the new strings snapped after less than 20 hits. And then i had it strung again.. and i found out that my racket had a slight mini crack at 12 o'clock from the inside. I'm not going to send my rackets to this guy again. Now my racket is on a brink of breaking... i'm just waiting for it to break whenever i play.
Hey Ants, Sorry to hear about the break. Have you gone to the guy for a long time? Was he experienced in stringing Gosen racquets?
I think he is not used to stringing at high tension. The machine is good.. just the stringer. I didn't manage to see him string as i was playing during that time. I should have strung it myself !
Hmmm... seems this combo is quite high, which does require some experience to do a good job. Is this guy an experienced and reputable stringer? Or, just someone new to this business?
Re: Re: Bad stringer! Not a reputable stringer.. i regretted letting that guy string it. I think he strings before ..but not for high tension stringing.
I was surprised to know he's not a reputable stringer. From what i read above, I thought he was those "certified" (at least, proved by pro shop, etc) one, doing court side work in clubs. Or, I just simply mis-understood your statement.
I thought so , well he was hired to do stringing and also mend the pro-shop a , so i assume he has the experience to do it. Oh well can't do much now. Damage has been done. He is not a certified stringer.
So how long has the stringer been with the pro shop? Have you taken up the issue with him yet? The place where I strung my racquet always checks for prior damage before taking on a job and sometimes require me to sign a waive if I request for tension exceeding manufacturer recommended limits. Not every stringer will do that so I appreciate his extra caution.
That's a good way to avoid trouble earlier. I do prior check ups and always metion the possible "bad results" before taking the rackets. It's down to them to decide whether I am good enough / worth to trust or not.
Ants, What did the stringer do to crack your racquet? Did he put enough cushioning to spread the load at the head and throat?
Nope... thats the problem. He didnt have extra cushioning at the throat and head of the racket. I dont know how he remove the racket from the stringing machine.
Perhaps he's just a replacement while the regular guy takes a vacation... he probably didn't have the 'authority' to make changes to the equipment.Would having a cushion on both supporting points make a lot of difference?
He is not a replacement. He is new at the proshop ( since the proshop at the court is new ), but he has been stringing for some time already.., my racket still haven't break yet.
