Have you guys had any problems travelling especially on planes with badminton rackets? Recently my mom just purchased an mp77 for me from malaysia. She said that she had no problems, up in till she reached canada. She went to the states also. So she had to pay 26 dollars extra, to ship the rackets from calgary to edmonton.

when i bought racquets over, i got a plastic-shell luggage and put it in my clothes. I'm sure i could have bought glassware the same way without damage.

I hand carried 3 rackets in a badminton bag. When I entered USA at SF, it was security level Orange that day, but I had no problem to clear custom and security check. The funny things was the guy in front of me carried a arrow shaped stick. The security let him go. I thought my rackets should be fine compare that weapon.

hmm.. yeah my mom said that the lady said that Air Canada was really strict when it comes to these things.
I thought it was kinda wierd that Air Canada would be more cautious than the american airliners.

By the way, I have heard that, if you don't string it, that is, leave the racket unstrung, then the racket itself is not considered as a merchandize anymore since it's not complete. (lol, I guess the customs never know we can string very easily), and since the item is not complete and not meeting the requirements of merchandise, you will not be charged for any duty.

This is what I have heard from people entering the US, not sure about the Canada.

All my 3 rackets were new and strung at China (plastic cover the handles with price tag on them). Apart from the rackets, there were more than 20 packs of strings, 2 rolls of grips, and 10 tubes of shuttles. By the way, the badminton bag is brand new, too. The security and custom were even not bother to look what were inside.

But one time, my friend brought 10 tubes of shuttles for me. He had problem at US custom. It might be the tubes were in the original factory box.
