Default Do I need this tool?

It came with my stringing machine, it looks far too big for any badminton jobs.

no. that's a tool for shifting tennis strings. with thick stiff string and high tension, it is hard to arrange tennis cross strings after they are weaved and tensioned. no need for that for badminton.

It's called a "setting off" tool, for straightening the strings.

You don't need it for badminton - they're easy to square up by hand.
