Hi Jonas, it was very nice to meet you during the party in the Presov on the Thursday nigt. I was quite suprised that you decided to come when you were scheduled to play the next day. You asked me about my nick in the forum, but unfortunatelly my nick is so difficult to say - it means nothing - even in Polish. Maybe I should change it. One question. In the group stage Martin L-H was playing singles against guy from Slovenia. It was difficult three-games match for him and I saw many Danish players (also You) having fun during that match. Why Martin was playing singles? I thought he is doubles specialist... Good luck for the finals day. Regards, dzgdz
I'm sure Jonas can give you a better reply, then I can.. But.. I'll do my best.. originally, Martin Lundgaard was an aspiring singles player... And he did have some pretty good results without never making it really big globally, though.. Then.. he became a little older.. finished his education.. took on a part-time job.. was married.. had a kid.. and started playing doubles.. as I recall.. he started out playing with some very young Danish players.. kind of in a mentor role.. but then Jens Eriksen and he started playing together.. and they actually started winning.. and became a very strong pair.. probably much stronger than Jens Eriksen ever was with Jesper Larsen.. and that is why everybody these days perceive Martin Lundgaard as a doubles player.. but when the Danish team during the qualification stages at Thomas Cup suddenly had a few players down with the flu.. Martin had to step in and play singles.. which I am sure he has not practiced seriously for years.. and I guess that is why some of the Danish players probably have found this to be quite amusing..
Hello! Hi Dzgdz!! It was nice to meet someone from the forum once again. It´s now happened quite a lot and I´m excited that you guys want to meet up and talk about things on the forum. I think this place will explode and be THE place to be if you´re into badminton. Kind Regards Jonas
