This guy has quite a few videos from the Pan Am Games 2013. Pretty good competition. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JCM5In79SQ
This guy is towbsss (a member on the forum) and is also known as Toby Ng (one of Badminton Canada's top player)
Haven't seen the vids yet but there was one Cuban with pretty impressive results last year so assuming this is the one you are talking about . Still: needs $$$ to travel to tournaments and collect ranking points. Advantage: RGIII And as mentioned above the YT channel is from Toby Ng who made the London Olympics for Canada and practically singlehanded filled the Canadian players thread in the "other countries" section . Wasn't updated with this Pan Am event yet though ...
the angle is not so good... these vids from US open are much nicer... http://www.youtube.com/user/oracos/videos
The cuban player's name is Osieni Gurerro - seriously RGIII should finance this guy to the events. (I think it maybe illegal in the US ). Yes, Toby NG - he does a great job with the videos - maybe Canada Badminton should pay him for his promotional efforts - take out their media budget. I'll check out the other thread - didn't know it was there. Thanks
Thanks some really nice videos. The one with Toby Ng practicing is amazing....I got tired just watching it.
Not sure which one you were referring to but if it this, that wasn't Toby but his brother, Derrick Ng who plays MD with Adrian Liu.
LOL...the title says Toby Ng at Clear1 - his brother is also a national level player isn't he? Either one, still makes me tired - every time I see it.....I better go lie down!
Derrick with Adrian is the #1 MD pair in Canada but unfortunately this year, Derrick didn't get selected to the National team even though Adrian did. Suspect that team competitions like the Pan Am, Sudirman Cup, etc, Derrick doesn't get to go and Adrian will have to play MD with someone else. This year's Canadian Nationals is scheduled for next week at the Vancouver Lawn & Tennis Club and Adrian/Derrick are paired and seeded #1 in MD. There are a number of BC players on the National Team and they all train at C1 (Toby, Adrian, Christine, Jocelyn) except for Phyllis who trains at Ace.
I hung out with Osleni at a recent tournament and talked to him. Cuba helps sponsors him a bit so that he can travel. He's currently training in Spain and will be playing at the Brazil Open soon. He doesn't really have any sparring partners, so to get to where he is right now is pretty impressive.
