Hello BC, I was wondering if it's okay to apply lead tape to a racquet? I have a few low end racquets I still would like to use but I want to make them more heavy by adding it at the 12 o'clock position. Is it really okay to do this? If so does anyone know where to get some lead tape? Thank you.

Victor Powerizer. Easy to stick on, no hassle. For starters, might want to stick them at 10 n 2 o'clock positions, both sides.

You can get lead tape at most racket stores, especially one that sells tennis equipment. Be careful though, some lead tape has strong adhesive and can tear off paint if the paint quality of the racket is poor or if the racket doesn't have a protective coating over the paint.

I would recommend adding no more than 1g at a time to your racket just to test the feel. 1-2g at 12 o'clock will definitely affect the characteristics of the racket.

Hmmm I see, the victor powerizer stated above is a lead tape specialized in badminton I'll have to try that for sure. Hopefully it won't peel off. Oh heck it's a low end doesn't really matter to me I guess :p

from what i've been told the powerizer comes out pretty easily (but not when in use), so there shouldn't be problems with it peeling of the paintwork

To play it safe, feel the Powerizer with ur fingers. If it's too sticky, stick it to ur shirt or shorts once or twice b4 sticking it onto ur preferred racket.

I take back what I said above. That may be too much weight at one go. For starters, just stick on the 12 o'clock position, both sides.

Lead tape is a cheap way the change the balance, but you sacrifice the overall weight of the racket, as well as compromising the stiffness of the shaft and slight impact on aerodynamics which slows down the speed of your swing...

But since you are using on low end rackets, and using the racket just for recreation, then I guess it is fine...

Just DON'T OVER DO IT!!! You might get injured if you try to swing a very head heavy racket without proper technique or strength..

I used it on my Arcsaber I slash. There's a slight change but barely any we will see when I use it eventually.

Victor powerizer: the left over bits are more effective than the bit you are meant to use. Good stuff though.

I've got a new unused roll of Tourna racquet lead tape which has been sitting around at home for a few months. If anyone's interested drop me a PM. :)

Yes I can highly recommend Powerizer. It sticks really well but peels off without taking the paint with it. It's also easier to position inside the frame.

i have a roll of lead tape in my bag and never use it. After all, I don't want to be messing about cutting it to size, especially when Powerizer is ready in nice thin strips to make my life easy.

You can easily purchase lead tape on ebay. It doesn't cost much - that's what i did.

As a coach I carry so may spares in my bag. So, whilst i don't use the tape I'd rather keep it.
