    Hi guys

I've been given a NS9900 to string and I'm wondering if it's real or not.

    Shaft: 283633
    Cone: 186959SP

It has a hologram that looks good and the owner says it's real but there are a few paint chips and behind the paint it's quite metallic coloured.

Any thoughts on the serial numbers?

Complete fake [IMG]. Shaft serial should be 7 digits and the cone code represents the date form DD/MM/Y(x) (example 24/09/2011 = 24091[x]UK or 24091[x]SP from South East Asia [HK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, etc.]) so this one makes no sense at all.

That changes things on the number of digits side but the cone code is still completely nonsensical and typical of a fake racket. The font used for the cone code also looks dodgy but the best you can probably take pics of the hologram sticker and PBSI logo. These are usually off as well ...
Looks like the NS9900 is still unmodified to this day so if produced today so would have a cone code of '100142UK' or 100142JP/SP/BX/GR ...

Here are some good pics of correct font and pics of PBSI logo and hologram http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...(purple-SP-code-3UG4)-and-VT80-(TW-code-3UG5)

    Gimme a minute :)

Unstrung with a thick replacement grip, the balance point from the end cap is over 300mm. Oh dear :(

No PBSI logo and the racquet specs rather than being etched in like on my 8DX is a sticker.

Thread closed I guess, hope he didn't pay full price.

He's asked for it to be strung @ 26lb, will it take it?

yeah, it is completely a fake racket, the cone code alone is more than enough to tell if the racket fake or not.
plus Yonex logo on the butt cap is off (the o/o/ the "/" part is too high)

I think it will gonna take 26lbs. but on the safer side. say to him that it is fake and then ask his consent what happens if it is break since the fake cannot handle 26lbs..

**holy.. NS9000 with BP 300+ after applied with thick grip? that is overkill. that's why fake cannot be trusted

I took a rough measurement and its around 310mm.

I'll speak to him later and ask what he wants to do. I have ZM62 here which I can string around 24lb for the same feeling, he's not a big hitter and he always hits cleanly so it may be suitable for him to try that.

yeah, hopefully it doesn't break his heart when he knows his racket is fake (esp if he pays full price for it)
ZM62 @24lbs should last long.. I think? I have mine at 22lbs and didn't break till today (I rarely use it though). maybe you can also tell him the pros and cons of using 0.62mm string

P.S: 310, must be a warhammer.. is he going to use it in doubles?

He's our club secretary & a coach so he should be cool. I'm not charging him as referrals from him are worth more to me.

Yeah the racket is fake, but the "9" at the end has nothing to do with the production date......so the date would be 18.69.2005

Ok, I messaged the owner and he said he paid £25 quid for it. I'm pleased he hasn't got ripped off, but what does everyone think is a safe tension for ZM65 with it?
